Now the next question is can the loop marking be scripted so it can be batched to many files? Now that would be amazing!!
Haha, well sometimes it pays to be impatient. (Count me in:))

I really hope it's able to batch process the loop marking!

hehehe:) Good to see the Adobe forum is alive. I actually plan buying Adobe Audition 3 very soon. I hope they fix the bug with reseting some vst plugs though.

Can someone try auto-writing a script to see if this work?

Basically you go to:

Options - Scripts (uncheck Pause at dialogs and Alert when complete),
Hit Record - Close,
Hit CTRL - P and set up a loop,
Hit Ok and go back to scripts,
Hit Stop Current Scripts and <<Add to Collection<<
(and in Hit I mean click. No punching you computer plz ;))

Then Press Run Script to test it out and see if it works. If the dialog opens but nothing happens it may need to be manually pushed. Go back to script and press Edit Script File copy and paste the code here plz. I will edit it manually.

Thanks

Hehe, whoops. Sorry, I just happen to check KVR a lot more and I would check the other forums I posted the question on every few hours. So last time I checked it hadn't been answered yet. I checked KVR first and found that before going back.

Thanks for the help anyways though! It was driving me nuts!

I tried it but it didn't work. I've never used scripts before though so I probably did it wrong. Here is my script if you want to try and edit it:

Code: Select all

Collection: My Scripts

Looking at that, I don't know if it included the sampler dialog or not. Like I said, it might be my fault since I've not done it before.

HOLY CRAP IT has commands for cue list now ? WOW!

Koolkeys,

Thanks a lot for that I'm going to take a closer look later on and see if I can hack it a bit and get it to work. What I was looking for was a big hash like number that is created when custom parameters are set (like cue points or conversion of parameters from effects).

When you run the script, did the dialog open or did it seem that nothing happened at all (this happens sometimes). Also when you created the script, did you select the entire file, a section of audio or no audio at all (sorry should have mentioned that this effects the script differently).

Again much appreciated!

When running the script, it DID do something. It created the marker, which I did by selecting a segment of audio and hit F8. But it seemed to stop there and not do anything else according to what I saw when opening the files again.

The big difference is that Sony acquired the company and just let them keep doing what they do with minimal interference. OTOH, Adobe acquired the technology and shoe-horned it into their graphics GUI conventions and god knows what else. Things seemed to be mostly business as usual after the Sony acquisition, whereas Adobe killed off all Syntrillium's products and replaced them with their own new products.
But the other instance was even more galling. When Adobe acquired GoLive, they discontinued their own product, PageMill, but refused to offer their own loyal customers a cross-grade path to the new product. Consequently, 11 years later I still do most of my web work in PageMill, just to spite those f**kers.

In the case of Audition, I don't really see how Adobe killed Cool Edit. Many of the same conventions are still there. It's just enhanced from what CE was.

I'm not speaking for any more Adobe stuff, although I haven't seen too many drastic changes in the ones I've used.

But about this:
Adobe acquired the technology and shoe-horned it into their graphics GUI conventions and god knows what else
It may use similar tools, but despite you not being familiar with them, they ARE helpful. It's not like they just threw it in there and it's not useful or that it somehow ruins anything. It makes the program BETTER, and a lot of people love the tools. Plus, as I said, it has no effect on the rest of the program with them being there. If you don't use them, you'll never see them.

I just don't think Adobe is as evil as you seem to think they are here. Keep in mind that I'm only talking about program development and NOT customer treatment, upgrades, or anything else.

Did you uncheck Pause at dialogs and Alert when complete.

I unchecked the Pause one, but don't know about the alert one. I'll check. Just curious, but why would the alert one affect it?

Ok it looks like it can batch whole audio file loops. I'm still messing around to see if I can get sections to loop instead.

Code: Select all

Collection: Creating Loop Points
Title: Loop List
Description:
Mode: 4
Undo: 1

Selected: 0 to 999999 scaled 999999 SR 44100
Freq: Off
cmd: Channel Both

Selected: 0 to 999999 scaled 999999 SR 44100
Freq: Off
cmd: Command 311

Freq: Off
Data Scaling: size 999999
Data: Cue List
1: 1
2: 1
3: 0
4: 0
Data: Assoc List2
1: 1
2: Marker 01
3:
4: 999999
5: 544106354
End:
You will still have to tweak the loop points in Kontact after the audio is imported. For now this is a pretty cool solution.

But I don't believe it's turning the markers into sampler loop points when using the batch tools. I could have messed something up and need to do it over. Did you change anything in the script you posted? Should I try that one?

Yea I changed the Mode to 4 which applies the script to an entire file. Also changed the length and instance of cues in the file.
You may be right that it won't embed as looppoints (which puts us right back to square one).

Give it a go and see what happens. Let me know.

I tried your script, but no luck.

I'm going to start over from scratch and record a new script with the settings correct this time, just in case. Since the first loop point is created using the start and end points of the marker you've set with F8, and it's just a single button hit to make that loop point, I would think it should be included in any scripting. But maybe not.

I'll be back soon.
