Me? Everyone in the thread? To whom do you refer? Who is the "ya'll" person?

I would love to collab... your place or mine?

Post

lmao I mean you and the poster immediately before the post you quoted

though I'd collab with you in a heartbeat... I am laughing out loud at the idea of everyone from the thread collabing... it'd be like a Wu Tang show after someone laced the stash

Post

Love the piece. Loads of really chemo-organic sound in there.
Like that the beats aren't boring and common...but the liquid paste that holds it all together.

Is hard gating a forgotten '80s effect? I'm wanting to hear this with all but the crackly stuff and mysterious sections hard-gating the rests.
I like hearing dead digital black as much as possible in tonally rhythmic works like yours here.

How is gating these days..used much anymore?

Some powerful digi-art.

Yikes... digital silence? I don't think that it's gone the way of the roto tom but It's not something I use commonly. I use a lot of hard gating with weird threshold and release settings but there is almost always a background of pre amp noise or verb tail or something. I'll keep the suggestion in mind though :)

Post

Not at all suggesting you add or change how you work 3am. Don't want to seem like i'm saying that. Just that my "minds-ear" wanted to hear some sections like that...and I don't hear ppl talk about gating anymore...so I just asked to see how you felt about it.

No, no... go ahead and tell me how to do what I do! :hihi: I like being pushed around.

Let's keep this clean.

You're both hippies, you know that?

Post

damn. I cannot stop grinning.
If it's the crappy month of June that stoked those fires...well...it would only be selfish of me to wish more of the same on you, Justin- but DAMN! maybe tribulations do yield a gem here and there? This is amazing. Absolutely love it... and I do NOT wish another "june 08" on you, Sir! :D

...hey... is that hippies that I smell?... are there hippies on this thread?

:hihi:

Post

burning hippies maybe

yeah, this song rocks the f**k out of my entire neighborhood every day out my window and into the heat to bug all the other people in the ghetto

Post

a guy down the hall from me in college would do the same with this one
another guy made this one his "motivational morning devotional". 6am every morning during winter quarter a million years ago...when the tune was brand new. It took me years to love Supper Freak again...and I do love me some RJ nowadays. Especially after that song's pivotal role in recent-ish movie. Distance is a wonderful thing sometimes ;)
sorry, Justin. none of this blather has ANYTHING to do with the fact that your ironically named tune reallllllly rox0rX
