in the last few weeks, i've been using this plugin quite extensively...

i was already impressed when i initially tried it out, but now that i've been using it a bit more, i love it! it's my 'go to' limiter now for all applications; there's so much control available for such a simple looking plugin. :tu:

Thanks for the feedback kpd!

no problem. :tu:

previously, i was using one of 3 or 4 different limiters depending on the task at hand: they all had good qualities, but suit certain uses/material better than others.
i've found the Protector handles everything i throw at it.

Sorry for my ignorance but what exactly does a brick wall limiter do and how would I use it musically?
thanks.

to make it (very) short, it makes sure that your signal does not exceed 0 dB. So you can use it for output protection, loudness maximizing, dynamics range reduction... Since it also let you introduce distortion, you can also use this plugin for all kinds of sound destruction.

o.k. thanks.
Is it a real time plug-in or for post-processing only?

real time.
zero latency.

i'd recommend you give the demo a try... what have you got to lose? :tu:

Yes indeed, all our plugins are designed for real time processing and operation. Like all our other plugins, Blue Cat's Protector also supports real time and zipper free MIDI control and parameters automation. you can use it on your master buss, but it's also very useful to give color or change the dynamics of single tracks. As kpd says, I advise you to try the demo.

We are glad to say that Computer Music Magazine has reviewed our Blue Cat's Protector plugin in their October issue. Our brickwall limiter was granted both the performance and value awards, and was rated 9/10, described as a "thumbs up" from CM. You can read more about this review in the plugin reviews section or in this month's CM issue.

The review is also available on the Music Radar website: read Blue Cat's Protector Full Review on MusicRadar.

The introduction price for this plugin will still apply for a few more days so don't miss it ;)!

Sorry for the bump old thread,

I see this plug in is zero latency - how does it achieve 100% brickwall limiting? Does it use a clipper at the final stage?

Thanks

Without revealing the exact process, that's indeed the kind of operation that is applied to the signal.
