DirectWave and other IL software questions

Hi

I'm currently trying out various IL demos and have a few questions.

- If I buy FLStudio XXL, do I get full FL/VST versions of bundled plugins (DirectWave, Sytrus etc), or only FL versions of those?

- Is there a way to get some preview of separately sold DirectWave content? So far I've been able only to download DreamPads demo patch. I'm also interested in Orchestral collection, wasn't able to find a comparable demo though. There are some WAV files preinstalled with the FLS demo, but I find it difficult to match them against the sold sample packs.

- Does the anti-crack protection of IL plugins (which I read about in another thread) use any kind of root-kit technology (as, to my knowledge, some of those protections do)? If not, is it possible that future versions will (if it's possible to get a statement on that subject at all)?

BTW I find it a little difficult to evaluate DirectWave since more than half of the features/views are blocked in the demo.

Thanks,
{Z}

If you buy the FL version of a plugin, you also get the VST version (if it's available).

You can download all the "(free)" packs from the "Select preset" list.

Not now and not in the future.

The "Player" limitations are:
- no import of external sound formats or samples
- no zone and sample tabs
- can't sample vsti plugins

I realize this makes it more difficult to evaluate the plugin for purchase, but it does allow saving the plugin in songs.

OK, solved the SDK question myself (with a little help from IL).

However I have another one - which of the IL plugins do have multicore support? Apparently the latest Sytrus does. I'm unsure regarding DirectWave/Poizone/Toxic/Morphine.

Also what kind of multicore support is that? Is a single plugin instance spread among variuos cores, or each instance can run on a separate core, or it's both?

Is it correct that FLS8 will run multiple instances of the same plugin on various cores, unless this feature is explicitly disabled?

Thanks again,

At the moment, it's just Sytrus. Toxic, PoiZone and Morphine have some minor issues that will be solved in the next version.

DirectWave isn't multi-threadable yet, but that will be fixed in a future version (normally).

As for the kind of support, it depends on the host. FL will run multi-threadable plugins in a thread of their own, and then it's up to Windows to determine what core each thread will run on (and this will change all the time, as Windows will try to spread the cpu load over as many cores as possible).

I'm not sure if my question was understood correctly. I understand that if I *buy* the plugin, I get both versions. But what about the plugin versions included into FLS XXL bundle?

Those are the yellow ones, right? Didn't find any for the Orchestral collection.

Great!

Right, zone and sample tabs were particularly interesting to me. Well, nevermind then.

Are there any rough expectations when is the future?

"In a thread of their own", does it mean per instance or per plugin DLL?

XXL is just a bundle, so if you buy XXL you in fact buy FL and the plugins. So to answer your question, you'll also get the VST versions in that case.

It's possible that not all packs have free downloads.
Right, zone and sample tabs were particularly interesting to me. Well, nevermind then.
Is there anything in particular you were wondering about? Maybe I can clarify some things.

Note that the included help file also explains those tabs.

No, I don't know when I'll get around to this yet.

Per instance.

And for what it's worth, Gol is working on multi-threading the effects as well right now, although the cpu gains in that case aren't as large as most people seem to hope for.

Right, that's why I was asking is there is another way to evaluate the Orchestral collection. E.g. I suspect that some of the samples installed with FLStudio demo could come from the orchestral collection, but I'm not sure. Well, again nevermind.

[/quote]No I don't have any specific questions. It was more like trying things out how they feel etc. E.g. my impression from FLStudio and IL plugins would have been completely different if I just read a manual :)

Regarding the multicore support, I really hope that the issue will be solved soon, since that was the primary reason I was looking for a new host.

Thanks for your answers.

Sorry, I don't have a solution for this.

FL can already multi-thread generators and effects will be possible in FL 9. Not many plugins in FL allow this for now, but most will by the time FL 9 is released.
