i don't feel like spending 1K on a portable thing,
eeePC plus ds-10 is just fine.

already have a fat-DS which is waiting for the ds-10

The rumors have it that the domestic NA release is sometime in October, and the current price you'd have to pay to import it is probably going to drop by quite a bit.

Something I've noticed from a few vids is that the 4 drum channels are not only synthesized, but can be tone-sequenced as well. I'm not sure if they're like the two main MS-20 synths or not, but I'd imagine they come close. I regarded it as a novelty item at first, but some of the demos show off some really powerful sounds, so I'm not sure what to think... but it's stacking up to be a great jam machine. People are going to be using it live, I have no doubt, especially with the Korg staple "KAOSS" mode.

I live in san francisco and hundreds of hipster geeks and their iphones are storming the stages of clubs over here with this on-stage-video-game-music-player-and-a-monome crap. Come over here and you'll see the trendiness at it's worst.

At first, you think it's kind of cool, then you see 5 other kids doing the same thing, all dressing and looking the same.

Where I'm from it's nothing like that. Actually, people who put on electronic shows here wouldn't show off their commodity electronics, they'd just sneak it in there like a private joke.

i like this stuff .. since i prefer tiny-setups,
and i am all into minimal-techno so this suits me just right!

today i had a chance to play with it, and i have to say it is worth buying.
actually the workflow is very similar to fl studio

can't wait to buy this great synth/sequencer..

Me too. I'm so tempted to get one of these! I've been messing with PSP rhythm and it's pretty good, a bit like a basic FL.

The touchscreen on the DS is whats doing it for me though, bet it would be great live...

ds cost around 60-70 quid here, thats around 120-140 dollars.
although that indamix does look fun, but i have a laptop

You're talking about a DAW right? That's something different than a VA synth. The two aren't in competition. I'd have gone with an EeePC anyway.
