Ableton Live audio fx (Compressor,Grain Delay)
BootEQ
Byd-Sinnister
CamelSpace
Ohmboyz
Hematohm
Ohmygod

MFM2

audio source = One drumloop

While initially, I started on this as an experiment...the more I worked with the sound routings, the results put me in mind of the way this painting is layered.
It appears to me as if there is a much more simple source under all the layers... sort of like this piece- which is the result of the abuse of a single drum loop ;)

hope you like this one, drumity. I really love this painting!

Oh, the humanity! That poor drum loop...

Fantastique, bb! If torture could ever be thought of as beautiful, you've pulled it off. Mighty fine granulation and syncopation, and the deeply verbed parts are insanely cool. Chaos and control. :)

-and blurbaly (just made that word up)
texture matches the painting.

One loop only :D

Wonderful what you can do with limited source material. :tu:

I don't have time to comment now but I've listened a few times and I'm blown away.

This is really great !
Thank you so much my friend for this pimped drumloop ;-)
Now and then I even heard the lion roars ... very cool !
Would you mind if I give your tune to a producer friend of mine ... he wanna do a 3D-video ... something to look forward to! :D

Hope the project will get even bigger .. you did a step forward ;-)

glad you guys like it!

@polyslax- ah...but it's the *illusion* of chaos and control (I think there is a lot more chaos than control really ;))
I just did the best I could to try to define the parameters within which the chaos could choasify =)
verb on this is actually MFM2. Urs's little monster has some wonderful verb-like delay presets. Still amazes me at what MFM2 can do.

@dd- ya...i really liked the blurbaly that I got out of this one, too (ohm tools and my stubborness are to blame for this, me thinks.)

@core- way back when God was a boy, I used to haunt a alt.binaries.sounds.samples. After a while, it got too boring just trading sounds, so we set challenges. we'd nominate someone to moderate and we'd all donate some weird-ass samples and the moderator would choose no more than 10 from the pool and that would be our "palatte" from there, we had to come up with our own compositions. At the time (around 1998), this was a complete novel idea to most of us (ACID planet had not even come into being at that time... I DO think that the endeavors of our ragtag band of newsgroup nerds may have spawned what came to be their "remix contests"...but what the hell do I know). Anyway- this is a LONG way around to say that one of us was NOT new to this sort of challenge.
He said that he'd done the same and the group was only given 1 second of white noise from which to construct a composition. While they could use any effects they like, they could NOT use anything to introduce tonal content (ie- no instruments) ONLY the white noise.
I probably have it on an ancient back up, but the piece he made back in 98 using only 1 second of noise blows MY piece out of the water.
While it's not what ya have. It's how ya use it may be a tired platitude, but damn if it ain't a true one!

@runny- I'm just glad ya like it ;)

@drumity- check yer e-mail...I'm delighted that your friend wants to do a 3d video using this.
link to the wav is in the mail, drumity. and I am so glad you like this one
It was terrific fun, but it pretty much maxxxxxed out my cpu! I froze what I could but the two most intensive midi tracks were being fed in realtime by audio from other tracks...and Live won't let ya freeze in that situation...so...this is basically as much dsp as I could get out of the box =)
glad it rendered at least (I was getting unintended sttttutters on realtime playback )

Checked ! Thank you very much !
So is your PC just showing his age or your plugins are cpu-eating ones ? ;-)
With my projects I push my laptop to the envelope and I use the laptop just because it's so smooth to sit mixing in a beergarden or a brasserie or wherever I get alc :D
But I know the freezing issue ... I use Nuendo and even with a small project you will get quickly to 100% ! To freeze saves your life :)
In my new house I will build a homestudio with room treating and a new pc and yesterday I painted the walls in bordeaux red (a matter of course for a french guy :)) and sahara yellow ... colour psychology !
And I realised you gettin' inspired in that room ... so I hope for future great music and paintings ;-)

a little of both, I think :)
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ is not the speed demon (by comparison) that it was at one time... and my "projects" have begun to push it into the red on occassion.
however- changing DAW systems is one of my LEAST favorite things in life :scared:
so, I'll put that off until there is no alternative :hihi:
the beast works just fine for most things and Live makes it easy to use resample or freeze features similar to the way us old folks would bounce tracks on tape back in the day :D

@drumity- ok, ok...have it your way... by "us" I am speaking of anyone who may have been older than 18 in 1987 (which is when I got my 1st 4 track- yamaha MT1X 8) ) is that better? ...I surely didn't want you to think I was accusing YOU of being ...not young, drumity :hihi:
and again- congrats on the move and your house!

@any1particular- thanks a lot for listening and for showing interest in knowing how I got the sounds...but it may be take a while to "coherently" document that
gimme a few days and I'll try to have an outline sorted.
re: your tune- while I am not so sure about the ending, I really like the feel you have going on. (in fact, I couldn't help but jam a fake guitar to it while listening :D )
you ought to post this tune to its own thread for others to enjoy as well :tu:

In 1987 I was 3 :) ... so I had other playthings :D

Thanks dude ! If it is as inspiring as I think I would be glad to do a painting for you ... if the shipment will not cost as much as the flight :)

Bigtime.

What a fun track. Very very inspiring.
Reminds me of the magic trick where they pass the handkerchief through the ears and nose cavities...only with sound instead of a hanky. :)
