Koblo Studio? New free host to watch?

Just saw this in the news section:
http://www.kvraudio.com/get/3350.html
Sounds like a new free host that may turn into something? Nothing terribly special yet(no VST support, etc.) and still in VERY alpha state, but seems like a good start. It looks like the dev is inspired by ProTools judging by the interface.
Have you seen this?

Lets hope this pair of new Koblos doesn't turn out to be a load of old Koblos

What? Nothing wrong with that. I just pointed out that the interface is very similar. ProTools has a lot of good uses and is a very powerful app, regardless of it's shortcomings. So I don't think being inspired by it is such a bad thing.djanthonyw wrote:koolkeys wrote:inspired by ProTools
(Sorry, I know you were just joking. I'm running on a couple of hours of sleep and I'm a bit cranky. Going back to bed now.)

Yea, you shouldn't have stayed up all night trying to decide on synth(s)! I know what that's like, because I did the same thing all this month!

Hmmm looks interesting...will keep an eye on this one. Max Gronlund, that sounds familiar..................Is he the man behind Nexsyn?

NexSyn, The Production Pack, as well as the line of Koblo synths, still used by BT and many others in their OS 9 incarnations:Teksonik wrote:Hmmm looks interesting...will keep an eye on this one. Max Gronlund, that sounds familiar..................Is he the man behind Nexsyn?

There are a lot of cool things to happen, here. The alpha software is coming along well, and as always, creative, constructive input is welcomed on things like this. There are forums on Koblo.com, as well as other ways to interact with those building this software.
There's also a new synth, Centaurus, which I have done some sound design for:

Onward!

The open source side sounds pretty interesting, I hope a lot of developpers will jump in.

Koblo 1.0 went down when the IT bobble bursted in 2001. It took us a while to get back on the feet Meanwhile I have been working with KeyToSound and Emil took a education as a "Chaos Pilot" Emil was the programmer of the filters so i should not take credit for that
Koblo 2.0 is about making a platform for how artists can Collaborate. Create. Share. and Distribute music to music lovers.
Thanks for the interest Koblo is back!

I'm interested in how people work together and how they communicate. I like to create synthesizers and to see my dreams come true with help from my network

Just purchased the new synth. Haven't tried it out yet, but for $7.50(!) and the name Max Gronlund behind it I figured I couldn't go wrong.Max Gronlund wrote:Koblo 1.0 went down when the IT bobble bursted in 2001. not even close. definitely reminiscent of PT, including the tool icons, multiple timeline representations on top, and the region list, and the layout of the mix window including the inserts.chicken muffin wrote: imo, synapse orion.
