Now that VB3 is working, a couple questions...

Guido did a great job getting the VB3 plug to work on Receptor. Now I want to use it live, and I have a couple questions:

I will be controlling the upper manual with an Axiom 61 that I can map pretty much anything to. Currently, I use the pressure pads (drum pads) to trigger a midi patch change command to change registrations. When I do, the module changes patch as one would expect. But when it changes the upper manual patch (part of a Receptor Multi patch, saved as an individual sound) it also changes the other manual. So what I need to do is send lower-octave notes to trigger the reversed drawbar patch change. This changes only the relevant manual.

The problem is, I can't get the drawbars to save the new drawbar settings. Especially lower manual; I need multiple presets on each manual, but I get the B an Bb to work, the ret just repeat the Bb setting, if I alter it elsewhere, it also resets the Bb patch.

How do I create and store my lower-key preset list for each patch? (Bottom line, I only need one Receptor organ patch, which contains all the presets I use in the lower-octave preset lists.)

THanks.

Hi,

I can only tell how VB3 works and what you can do, but I don't know anything about the Receptor or the Axiom controller.

In VB3 you can switch between Set A and B using CC# 49 (for upper) and 59 (for lower). Alternatively, you can use notes below Midi note #36 for the whole preset octave, being C the cancel (no sound from the manual), Bb for set A and B for set B, like on an Hammond organ.

You can however customize something by manually accessing the DAT file (which is a plain text file that VB3 creates in the same folder where the DLL file resides). Here you can choose different CC# for A/B switching, and also you can personalize your whole preset banks. BUT, beware, you have only one global bank for the whole instrument. You can't have different banks per each VST program.

At this point, I'd invite you to read the VB3 manual, particularly page 6.

Hey, did I miss something? The last version gave an error on my system (Tracktion on Windows XP; I posted about it here but can't find it now) Was something changed in the meantime?

Actually I did nothing for getting VB3 to work on Receptor. Farhan from Muse Research prepared a special installer which overrides *don't know what* that caused the crash.

There's still something that crashes Sonar, Tracktion 3 and Cubase SX1, and I'm about to fix it.

Oh great. Thanks. Meanwhile I'm having lots of fun with the previous version of VB3, Mr Ray and GS201.

Hey, by the way, I mentioned in another thread that it'd be great if you would make a Hohner clavinet-emulation. Any chance of that ever happening? (probably not, but I thought I'd just ask you straight :hihi: )

By the time we're chatting here, I just fixed the Sonar bug (and hopefully, the same that affected T3 and SX1).

Who wishes to test this temporary version, please send me an email.

Clavinet? Like ?

YES!!! That's the exact same link I put up in my post about it. (So that's your clavinet? Cool!) :tu:

Thanks. I forgot about the DAT file because it was ignored in the original crashing install, when I would rewrite it, it would just recreate the original. I'll try it that way (and all I need is one preset fronm the Receptor if the reverse-key presets work.

Incidentally, the Axiom drum pads are currently set to send program change (which will reset both manuals) but can easily be reprogrammed to send the midi oreset notes, which I planned to do until I found I couldn't reprogram the presets. (But now I can, thank you for the reminder. i DO read manuals, but when something doesn't work, I stop believing...) :D

Well, I can't get to the DAT file to alter it. The original file is in a restricted area (Program Files) and won't let me edit it. I have read about how to do this, but can't find the thread. Can somebody either explain or point me to the thread/ Thanks.

BTW if this requires WINE access, I have it, but don't use it, so details will be appreciated...
