wow... I've had the 1.08 ver for exactly two days and this 1.09 pops up! and it's just LOVELY
...and I'm certain the next few additions and tweaks will make it even better... the ideas here are right on!
This is one amazing hunk of software... I have a few other great vsti's but this puppy is pure astounding to me... the range of what sounds come out of it is nothing short of phenominal.... LOL like I say, not news to 'you old guys' but to a newbie, most impressive!!!
and Many Thanks to Tim for the wonderful patches... I've been following your work on other vsti patches as well and think yer a bloomin' genius!
..one happy puppy here...

that clicking i earlier mentioned on dx7 import has to do with the osc level envelope. the common factor seems to be the note is off before it gets to the sustain portion of the envelope. if i readjust the curve levels to have some value up in the sustain portion and then drain off to zero after release, the clicks disappear.
but to show you what i know i don't understand how the note sustains in these cases when all the osc's level are zeroed before it gets to the sustain portion.
anyway there's a work around and I kind of like the way the envelope dies off slowly this way.

dx import works nice. only tiny downside is the click with quite a few sound during attack and release. i have to set all attacks for all occilators a bit smoother and fool around with the end of the envelope and the clicks disappear. especially all epiano sounds i downloaded from dx7 page mentioned click.
anyway, great work Tick. most inspiring synth in my arsenal.

That's because you're not on the INTERNAL bank. All destructive operations are disabled on all the other banks.wrench45us wrote:Iclicked all over the place and the only place i find a DX7 import is grayed out on an individual peset.

Hmmm I just noticed something in the standalone version of Rhino that I don't quite grasp... it seems to not run under ASIO drivers???? Is that correct? If so, it seems very curious to me...
If I run it standalone, with either the delta 1010 drivers or the motu 2408 drivers I really have to crank the latency up to get clear sounds... like up to 150 or more....
but if I run it inside Chainer 1.03, which is an ASIO vsti host... I get much lower latency and therefore a much nicer response from the keyboard....
Did I miss some way in the set up for the standalone to get to an ASIO enviornment? I just can't believe it's not there somewhere....?????

That's actuallyl true. The standalone has only directsound (no ASIO) support. That's another line on my neverending todo list

since the dx7 import click on attack and release is somewhat prevalent and the problem is pretty well-defined with envelopes, what's the chances the next update will 'fix' the clicking?
otherwise I'd very much appreciate the selectable/movable circle points in the envelope window indicate when I'm over them, because I'm having to try 3 and 4 times on average (with my trackball, resolution and eyesight) before I manage to drag the envelope off the zero level and stretch it out to correct the clicking -- and with all 6 oscillators on every patch.
the good news is i wouldn't go to all that trouble if that dx7 import wasn't creating the sounds it does. and i may actually learn a little about sound design as
1) there's the possibility of replacing the traditional sine wave with any of all those other waves
(seems if one knew what one was doing or one was simply lucky one could generate a complex wave form with fewer osc involved -- and thus reduce the cpu usage on some of these dx7 imports)
2) there's no filtering/LFO movement on DX7 patches
so this whole dx7 import opens up all kinds of possibilities. so even if I have my minor complaints, i'm very pleased with how this is turning out.

thanks Tick for the verification of the non ASIO on standalone... at least I won't go nuts looking for the hidden menu to turn it on... LOL
also good news on the DX7 future plans.... there are so many sys ex files around and many are way nice starting points for a patch, or just kewl as they are... so that idea to have clean importing is a great one.
Again I must thank you for that multi bank feature... really nice! I was also wondering if in the patches we see on screen, if it would be possible to navigate thru them with the up and down arrow keys? This could sound like a friviolus request but at least for me it's physically faster often to reach the arrows while at the keyboard than to grab the mouse... just cuz of how my little room is set up.... anyway, just a thought.
thanks again,
max

max: arrow keys navigation is already available, but it doesn't work in all hosts because some (many) of them won't forward key strokes to the plugins.
