Time for me to unleash my interpretion on how General MIDI should've been developed in the first place. This plugin gives some of the credibility back to General MIDI. What this is? 2 oscilators with a full patchbank of General MIDI sounds played thru soundfont oscilators. Lowpass filter with ADSR envelope + VCA ADSR envelope. It comes so far with 64 patches. It has 12 voices polyphony, and the sounds ain't made by me. See further posts by me to get the sound source.

I use a fair amount of GM for some church music work. I listened to the demo tune. First, it was a nice song - definitely not what I usually associate with GM. Beyond that, the sounds in your sample set sounded pretty good.

I'm headed out of town for the weekend (with my laptop), so I just downloaded the instrument. More feedback later.

Logic is a pretty flower that smells bad - Spock, in "I, Mudd"

I've downloaded this to test on my music PC on Monday (I don't want to try it on my shitty laptop speakers :) )

Thanks, I'm excited to test this!

Thanks! This bank doesn't contain any drums apart from the drums in the percussion presets. No complete drumkits. Yeah I know I was disapointed when I found that out. But this is what I can do.

You were disappointed when you found out???? So, I presume these are not your sounds then. Where have they come from?

hey, thats quite a lot of sounds for a small download . sounds pretyy good too in a G.M way! :)

Maybe you could get interested in the GUS midi patches. I use them in Timidity to playback Midi files in Windows and they are very good IMO. Eawpats they are called and they appear to be freely available packed in rpms for Linux.

Problem is that there is no renderer for them in Synthedit or Synthmaker I think.

Da foo is breaking. :D Time to reveal the sound source:

It's an Yamaha XG soundfont that MaliceX posted in the Yamaha softsynth topic a while back. I downloaded it and decided to actually make a VST out of it. And you people who still read the topic about Yamaha softsynths should've seen this coming a long while. I dunno who converted it into a soundfont but my credits goes out to you.

I sure would use them if there was a soundfont rendition. Anyone up for the task?

Yeah there is no sounfonts of them I am afraid.

Have a look at this page, there are some Merlin sounfonts and other free quality GM soundfonts as well I think.

Another one is the Titanic 200 but it can only downloaded from torrent or p2p currently presumably, I haven't tried. It's big, 120MB or something.

I've got some more stuff coming... I've pulled some strings trying to get some useful contacts, so stay tuned. Nothing prommised, but if all goes as planned we'll see another soundfont experiment ahead of us.

:edit: But first I'm gonna within the next days ahead release a new version with 64 patches.
