blortblort wrote:are ya suuure it's a typo?
:hihi: :D
This doesn't leave the answer open !
blortblort wrote:don't know what you meant, but please drumity! I mean you no harm! :D
I meant the painting I WANTED to do for you ? You missed that ?
The inspiration came just quickly ...
I am sitting with my back to you in a weird ambience of coalescing colours and superincumbent wafts of mist and paint some MIRABAs and you are standing behind me with a knife ready to mean me no harm with a crazy look in ya eyes saying "This was your last typo !"
I will name it "MIRABA - Typographical" :)

Post

Thanks, drumity! I needed that!
I did just laugh a bit too loudly for this time of night (my wife is the smart one- already asleep. shhhh.)
looking fwd to the painting :tu:

I really like this piece. Cool in a not trying too hard to be way, just happy to be shuffling down the sidewalk. The layering of the lead in that space you create was great :)
Thanks so much for listening, ouroboros! I too was happy with the way the layers worked on the lead. Sounds funny to say, but when you get the "right sound" for a piece, everything else often falls into place.
Glad you liked it and thanks again for listening!

YES ... and it's very cool it doesn't get boring ... what I doesn't say often of tracks ! The sparseness and simplicity is the key I guess :)
blortblort wrote:@drumity- OMG...I just saw your "appendix" post...any comparison of my stuff in any way to the material of Miles Davis is both crazy talk and high praise indeed! Shit! Thanks, drumity!
Listen to THIS and you know what I mean :D

In fact you can listen to the whole album and you will find that mood ..
maan I love this album ... unfortunately it's the last one .. I would have been glad to hear more of this or what direction he would have been gone afrterwards !

I've been in a project named "Burn For Miles" and we played Miles songs after his Cool Jazz period, means the Jazz-Rock-, Fusion-, Jazz-Pop-Period ... this was just a blast and the feel and vibe which will be created of its own (and by the brilliant music) forced me to play my ass off :D

hey drumity! Per your request to explain what I got out of the painting and/or how it inspired this piece:

"MIRABA - Le Mirobelle Schnaps

Joan Miro has always been on my list of favorite artists...and while there *are* many on that list, there is a special place for Miro.
So the fact that this one SOO reminds me of Miro's work was what initially drew me in and it is the sort of a far away, cool, detached, yet grooviness of the painting that spoke to me.
I hope I was able to depart that in my piece!"

OH YES YOU WAS !!!! :D
And you did let me see my painting with another point of view which is a very synergetic momentum of a painter and a musician ;-)

Hey blortblort !

Here especially for you, the promised painting !
You remember the inspiration behind ? :D

Thinking about for any length of time, that's a renew of the piccamira:period !
I hope you'll like it and discover all contents and jokes ! :)

that is awesome AND hilarious!
It's exactly as you described it would be... but I could not have imagined it would be this, drumity!
...but you DO know that regarding "typographical" errors, I am guilty of this myself very often...so I could never "come at you with a knife" thinking "this is the LAST typographical error you'll ever make". :-o
With that fact in mind- it makes this painting that much funnier!:tu:
I am very honored that you were inspired to do this painting.
While I am certain there are more hidden jokes that I do not recognize, I do appreciate the thought and the humor behind this.
Absolutely great stuff, Drumity!
is there a high res link?

Thanks it was a lot of fun to do this ... about 8 hours .. but fun ;-)

What concerns the typo errors, I know this was a joke, but as you said "You're sure it's a typo?", I knew you adress my bad ass english and while I am trying my very best, it inspired me to this little story ;)

The humor and the jokes surely are more obviously this time ... a few of my paintings within this painting (some elements of) and the one that catch someones eye is me actually painting "Le Mirobelle Schnaps" but very blurred and adapted to the whole story and with a DALIesk moustaches

And if you search long enough you will find the shortcuts of your project name :D

Glad you like this and thanks for the kind words ! :)

ok ok... to be clear- here is the post that started this inspiration :

Sometime can be really fast :D
Look at my threat !

Drumity
I have bolded "threat"... this is the key word ;)

I believe runny made a remark about a typographical error and while I am sure that you intended to write "thread" instead of "threat", that is when I chose to question whether "threat" was an error... or if indeed you had somehow "threatened" runny into providing a song for you :D
It was not so much a poke at your "bad english"... in fact- you english is not bad at all! It is millions of times better than my French would ever be :D
soo...
regardless of what led us to this result- I am very glad it inspired another painting from you!
and yes- I did of course get the obvious stuff- the knife, "Schnaps" is the painting YOU are looking at, etc... I *should* have recognized the Dali moustachios and other Dali elements (another one of my fave artists... actually visited the Figueres museum when in Spain in 96 as a LONG day trip from Barcelona. WELL worth it :tu:)
... but I have not been able to recognize "the shortcuts of my project name" in this painting yet...

Post

blortblort wrote:It's exactly as you described it would be... but I could not have imagined it would be this, drumity!
Same for me till yesterday when I did start the painting :)
blortblort wrote:... but I have not been able to recognize "the shortcuts of my project name" in this painting yet...
That's awesome cause that things make a painting interesting for a longer time than one day or two !

A little clue: You won't find them if you think too lettask ;-) They are artistic too and Miraba:esk letters :)

(If you didn't hoe the row till sunday I will mark the letters in the painting :)

But in this way you don't run out of the painting too quick !
This is what I would wish if I bought a painting which touched me ;-)

Post

Ok here is the solution ;-)
The shortcuts of Madder Than You:

M in blue

T in yellow

Y in red

Actually there are more ... but I didn't want to ruin the painting :D
It's really tough if you want to hide those shortcuts in a painting with contents, a story behind and all the elements you wanna tell the story with, but I love such hidden essence ;-)

Here we go:

==== Where are the shortcuts ? ====

ya know... I found *other* MTY's ...but I didnt realize they were scattered all about the painting :-o
very cool, drumity! :D

blortblort wrote:ya know... I found *other* MTY's
Yes there are more ... but as I said ... if I mark all you don't recognize the painting anymore ;-)
blortblort wrote:... but I didnt realize they were scattered all about the painting :-o
very cool, drumity! :D
Thxx ... but that was my goal ... as I said a dedication to your kindness and a track with so much feeel !

BTW ... I heard your song in a loop while doing the painting ... the inspiration was flowing continuously :)
