The GPU! Dedicated CPU for durable live and studio traveling. I have the stage one. I don't think anyone has seen the rack one yet with the monitor though. You're seeing it first HERE!!!!! See? Can be fun to hang around the forum with El Squidsarino. I had to pull some strings to be able to post this before it was officially announced. Thought you'd like to see it! Pretty pretty cool! I'm telling you this is the rig to have. Dave Matthews Band has a bunch on their tour and I just heard that Nine Inch Nails is using a bunch of AmpliTube plug-ins on their tour as well and might be integrating Stomp IOs soon too. I'm telling you this is a POWERFUL system to get into. This Group Buy is a nice low price way in with a lot of great models. We'll talk about the gear in a bit. I'm actually off to rehearsals. I play with a local Pink Floyd tribute band for fun... eh, you know, a Squids gotta what he gotta do to keep doing something on the keys. It's a nice challenge actually. I play as if I was in Pink Floyd (ready for the gig too if it came but that John Carin is just too good... he sang Dogs better than any of the other guys and plays a mean guitar too ;) ). Of course I use a bunch of Sonic Reality samples and it sounds pretty darn authentic. I'm working with Alan Parsons sampling all sorts of things as well but we'll discuss that more at a later date. Wait until you see the footage I got in England though. I'm transferring it now. Some great stuff and gear galore.

But I digress. Like the pics?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw Dan using one of the floor GPUs in the video on the IK site and was wondering what it was. The rackmount one is way cool. How will they compare pricewise to, say, a Mac Mini or the Dell Studio Hybrid or even the Muse Receptor?

The GPU stage, the metal casing on the floor, will be also available as an accessory that will cost around $129 so user can buy any MiniMac or MiniPC and stick it in. That's what I have now with a mini PC in and it works great for this. All together it'd be around $600 to have a computer on stage dedicated which is not bad at all!!!!! Plus I can upgrade it later.

The GPU Rack you see there I believe will have a computer inside and available as part of a tour package and also on its own. That might be part of a boutique line of hardware only available directly through IK. We'll see. A lot of these things are being developed to enhance what AT users can do. So, direct crossgrade discounts, X-Gear integration, dedicated Stomp IO control of every parameter in ALL of the PBAT products... that's REALLY powerful and I know some people don't fully realize that yet but this is an incredible rig we're talking about with a lot of customization possible. More and more people are using it including Dave Matthews Band live (and they do a lot of touring), I believe Nine Inch Nails, Tool and a bunch of other touring and studio guitarists, bassists and even keyboardists too! A lot of rock keyboardists like to use guitar amps and especially stomp pedals for things like Clavinets, Wurlitzers... I used to when I played with Kevin Gilbert. I had some MXR pedals -Dynacomp and Phase 90, a Vox Wah (the same one modeled for AT Hendrix btw) and a Rotovibe.

That rackmounted unit is exactly what I was thinking about the other day when I was thinking of looking for a server machine with lots of RAM and a fast hard drive that I can mount right into my case. I had a Marshall pre-amp and FX unit in there before (which I sold to buy the Stomp IO) so now my case is kinda empty, just has the power conditioner and Mesa Boogie power amp.

Any idea when IK will have theirs available? Even a hint?

Cool, I have a spare Mac Mini though it is only a Core Solo 1.5 w/ 2GB RAM. It has run AT2 for sure so I might have to get that GPU Stage and try it out.

If you need a computer on top of it, and the Stomp IO is an interface itself, then what is this GPU thing for?

I am guessing it is kinda like a docking station so you don't have a little miniPC loose on the floor.

Seeing that we're in the Sonic Reality forum, and there's an IK rep here, are you guys going to do an official company forum here (or anywhere) soon? Would be nice - even though Squids and Company talk well about your products, they are often looked to for IK-specific queries here and IK they are not. Great, yes, but not officially IK.

As for Stomp IO:

Will there be "special offers" like the one talked about in this thread for us European customers that own multiple IK soft ??

It's a litte durable shockmounted metal casing for it with a handle. You don't HAVE to have one. You can just use a mini Mac or PC. But this is more solid, looks cool etc. Like I said, I have one already and I like it. You still have to be careful with it because it IS a computer you have inside of it but you CAN also step on it worry free. I wouldn't step directly onto a Mini Mac. ;)

IK has been working on having a forum for a while. I saw one once in beta but not sure what happened with that. I'll try to find out. I think it takes a lot of people to moderate and English isn't IK's native tongue being in Italy so... hard to say. I agreed to help out and moderate but I barely have enough time to chat in here so I don't know.

Has anyone gotten a call from IK this week? I gave them my number late on Thursday, and still haven't received a call.

Earlier in this thread, Squid mentioned that he uses or has used a Mac for this setup. I am assuming it's an older model or OS.

The only Amplitube product I can get to work with Logic 8 (10.5.4) is Jimi Hendrix. The other two, Amplitube and Ampeg, simply do not authorize.

When will this be fixed? Any ideas?

Has anyone figured out a workaround?

They won't even work standalone or through X-Gear?
