I just got mine. Started playing with it on my lunch break. I almost didn't go back to work
Good timing too -- got a business trip starting next Sunday night. This will stop me from being bored, but I might miss meetings and/or flights

I'm interested in trying this on both our original DS and our DS Lites. It's most evident when playing around with Electroplankton, but the original DS had a MUCH beefier sound system (even when using headphones) than the DS Lite does. When I get it, maybe I'll post some side-by-side audio comparisons.... it'd be cool if this synth app started a run on the old original DS systems.

Is anyone else not feeling the DS main outputs? They seem to be very quiet and also their is some digital hiss if the volume is cranked all the way up. Is it just my DS Light (because I bought it 2nd handed for 50 euros) or is this a common issue with all DS Light models? Too bad 'cause Korg DS-10 is the best handheld software invention after Colors DS ... and Tetris

Is this true? I'm going to Japan next month and I was going to pick this up, but if there's going to be a US version soon I'd just as soon wait.DrApostropheX wrote: !!! I thought this didn't come out in the states until September 30!

Run it through a noise reduction pedal and amp if it bothers.

I imported the Japanese version. Aside from the manual, everything is in English anyway.DrApostropheX wrote:!!! I thought this didn't come out in the states until September 30!
They're a little quiet (despite the "limiter" Korg says they implemented to make the DS-10 output louder) and can be noisy at times, yeah. Awesome as the DS is, it was still meant to be a toy.ikke wrote:Is anyone else not feeling the DS main outputs?

The DS Lite main outs are way anemic compared to the original DS (one of the tradeoffs of having a way brighter screen and way longer battery life in a slimmer form factor). I don't have the cart yet, but from my experience with Electroplankton, I would suggest doing the sequencing or whatever on the DS Lite (because the screen is so much better), but then using an original DS for any sort of sound recording or sampling.ikke wrote:Is anyone else not feeling the DS main outputs? good to know, glad that i still have both.. DS and DS-lite
uhm yeah.. that would be cool to have a us/eu release for september
in this case i'll wait ... instead of ordering from japan.
things can be real slow...
nanostray2 for example was released in march-08 in the u.s.
while the european version still isn't out yet..
even as shin'en is a german company ...

i dont have a problem with volume being too quiet.. in fact i have a problem keeping my mix down because i make everything so loud that i sometimes begin to clip the output.ikke wrote:Is anyone else not feeling the DS main outputs? if you can't figure out how to make the sound you want loud enough, i'll refrain from giving you tutorials or anything, but a small tip instead. if you need more gain, goto your patch window(s), take the ENV output, put it into the VCA and crank the VCA all the way up. thats double the gain on a single patch. that goes for any of the editors, syn's or drums.
if you're talking about the DS speakers, blah... plug the sucker in. the speakers arent even worth talkin about. if you can't use headphones or something else for whatever reason and want portable speakers..you can get one of those plugin speakers that ppl use w/ kaossilators alot. the white rectangle kind that used to be out for the ipod that just plugs right into the bottom.
as far as the dac output and any aliasing you might come across.. well, that's part of the charm of using stuff like this ds for music

Just received the cartridge + a DS lite, having a blast now!
Can anyone tell me how automation lasting longer than one pattern is achieved, like in the demo song where pattern 1 is played 4 x but the effect keeps changing?
