I think it's pretty stupid if anyone is telling someone not to use what they're comfortable using for no apparent logical reason.

yep i think he's miffed a few people over at the Abs forum with his demands..he's like saying nobody can use live at the same venue as he's playing.....how stupid and unprofessional..

wow, that's a bit extreme, but talk about jumping to conclusions by the following posters. Who knows what Deadmau5 actually thinks- the anecdote was about his agent. Are there licensing issues involved? reliability? I don't know, perhaps I am naive, but the thread reads awfully vitriolic for such ambiguity.

but still the fact remains, wanting to have the ableton live monopoly on a night with electronic artists/dj's is pretty silly, especialy now, in 2000, maybe, like some exclusivity thing, but now?

perhaps, unless all this licensing stuff was disclosed in the contest rules, contracts, etc. It just seems to be scant hard evidence to slag someone so thoroughly. WTF? seems fine, but "forgetting where you came from," "piss on his gay performance," et al seems a bit steep without knowing any details. None are given in the thread. It all may be completely ture, and Deadmau5 may, in fact be a jerk, but it seems a lot like "shoot first, ask questions later."

perhaps I'm swimming up stream hoping for measured reasonable response on the internet..

126bpm limit and noone else using the main DJ-oriented app out there? I could understand that in the competition, but not the gig itself.

Its all a trick by BT, as revenge for DeidMoosie slagging off BT's haircut at an all-livecoding gig in Millwall.

The guy is house music royalty right now, I'd be thankful that I was on the same gig. It's old news that the big guys don't want to travel all that way to get out shone by some upstart that has a few tricks the Mua5 has worked out yet.

I've played at gigs I've promoted with big names I knew I was better than but if you show boat and piss them off they don't come back, neither do their friends or the rest of their agents clients. Pissing of Al McKenzie from D-ream (when they were in the charts) was a real big mistake I won't do again!!

Let's be realistic here: The guys has a warm spot, be thankful. Warm ups are meant to be pretty invisible anyway. So he's got to use CDJs instead of software that does the beat matching for you. So what, he's a DJ. MIX!! When you get the opportunity to play along side somebody big, especially somebody who's red hot at the time. Do it, regardless. If they ask you to DJ on 1 leg, start hopping. It will look great on your DJ CV and hey, you may even get to meet the guy and find out he's ok and maybe use his fame to network. I've got many a gig off the back of chatting to the headlining DJs over the years.

Ok, I'm not saying it isn't an odd request but if this guy ever gets that big he can do stuff like this too. It's not like Sasha didn't have strange requests on his meteororic rise. Use the opportunity to forward your own career would be my advice, and shut up whining!
