Burnie, while we're here, did you notice the thing i posted about the microTera zip on the previous post?
im more and more convinced is a fake alarm, since i had a similar behaviour unrarring BetabugsAudio full pack (Comodo AV claiming Monstachorus being infected), but ...you know, one can never know

Ubi, that virsyn is indeed infected, as is the mostachorus and endorphin and grasshopperand many others...it's the installer itself that is seen as a virus...dreaddd wrote:Optomadic wrote:guys , not to rain on anyone's parade...but...hersoot wrote:Here's where I found it:BFunKu wrote: Virsyn MicroTERA VSTi is FREE Now!???

so a workaround....
googoogyhgoogle up "sandboxie" and install it...after 30 days it's nagware, but only when ya first run it...
this will give you a virtual drive to run this stuff in,
tell comodo to quarantine these files by default, then try to repair them thru the comodo quarantine applet...
when it says it can;t repair them, do you want to restore?
choose yes.
note where the file is going BACK to...go there, righht click the file, click "run sandboxed"...let it install, then scan the folder with comodo...
odds are, either the installer or uninstaller will be the problem, so let comodo quarantine them.
copy the files out of the sandbox ( usually c/:program files/sandbox/default box/drive c/downloads or whatever) into the same location on the actual drive,
and yer good to go.
lotta work, but no worries.
if there is an infection in the sandbox, just delete the mofo'er.
also...to save the installer....and keep it from being bad, bad, bad...right click that puppy, have winrar add it to archive, choose put recovery record and lock the archive.
then it's safe if ya need it, it can;t access or be accessed unless you invoke it and you can archive it safely.
same with files nabbed by a squared....
hope it helps, bro...
peace out

ill give a run tomorrow when at work for sure..
the thing got me dubious right after finding out the monstachorus alert, since a) i already scanned it before installing it at home (not with Comodo) b) it was the total bundle installer (hence the other plugs were considered "safe")
thanx for confirming that it was luckily mostly my paranoia (striking deep in sunday afternoon, indeed, like in a Paul Simon's song
on the news side, I just uploaded the Bundle #2 by 12thFloor on Gersic, it should be available as soon as Tom have the chance to check

i'll take the anal retentive way out and do it the hard way i described.
i'd rather save the damn pluggie, screw the installer.
it is one style of installer only that seems to raise these readings...btw, i use comodo and it found it as well...
once the pluggie is installed, it shows as clean.
endorphin, same thing....it says some worm mumia or some such poo, that's the beauty of the sandbox tho.
malware can't get out. and ya can delete it safely.
just remember to turn the av back on and scan afterwards!!!!!

virsyn works great.

i used to delete anything that was even suspect, and then i was well....wait a minute...
that sandbox is a godsend..
and to TEST pluggies, i reccomend Hermann Seib's Savihost...
here's the thing...if ya drag the dll onto the savihost, it will open it without writing all kindsa crap to your registry, and check stuff out to see if it's good or not.
peace!!!!!
glad to see this thread is still alive, i have over 10 gigs of stuff back now, and have even found some new toys!!

I probably will. This is why I do not run AV software. In addition to the AV programs eating up resources and continually checking for updates or whatever, you sometimes get these false positives. Even Image-Line installers have been known to trigger false positives.Optomadic wrote:Oh well I'll never download from this thread again!
Since I was in doubt after reading this thread, I ran Trend Micro Housecall (online scan) which found nothing. One thing I refuse to do is go through gyrations to make the AV software happy. You gotta problem with microTERA? The microTERA stays--YOU GO!
I am also extremely careful about what I clickie on. Very careful.
