RMIV gui extremely unresponsive

I bought RMIV second hand recently and downloaded the latest version of the site.
The installation went fine and the plugin loads in all my hosts (ext1, ext2 FL8 and live 7)
The problem is that the gui is very very slow. If I select a pad it takes about 2 seconds before the gui is updated. Or if I click a pad to audition it, it takes 2 seconds before the led lights up.
Sound is instant though and I can perfectly sequence it, that is apparently not a problem.
It seems like RMIV also freezes my host gui while it's trying to update it's own gui.
This problem appears in all my hosts.
Is there some configuration setting I might have missed? I'd really like to get this solved, because it makes the software a true pain to work with.

It's sort of reassuring that I'm not alone with this problem.
Is there no way to solve this?
edit: I'm experiencing this problem on a PIV 3.0 GHz and no other plugin does this.

I think it must be something with your graphics card then, this is _not_ a known issue in RM IV (4!) , I would try to update drivers and check hardware acceleration (sometiomes off seems to be better than on).

I doubt it's the gfx card, since I only have this problem with RM4. I am going to test it with CM505 (since I suppose it's using the same core libs).
Alpha does not suffer from this.
I will update my gfx drivers regardless to see if it helps a thing (I might just do a complete reinstall on the machine)
I'll post my progress here.

I have installed the latest drivers for my graphics card, but it doesn't help a bit.
I've also moved all the files (kits and grooves) into the same directory as RM4, but that doesn't help either.
I've also loaded CM505, but this plugin works just fine. No gui problems here.
I have no idea what the problem is. I have no graphical problems on my system whatsoever. Only RM4 takes about 2 seconds before it updates a gui change, which makes it extremely cumbersome to work with.
If you have something else I should test, or have more suggestions on how to fix this, please let me know.

No idea, there are thousands of RMIV running, and while I heard it from a few Albino customers I cannot remember I ever heard this from a RMIV customer. Can you try the Albino demo to see if this is slow for you too.
Despite this you are right, RMIV and CM505 have basically the same code in all aspects (DSP and GUI), though different features

I first though it might be the fact that RM4 loads samples, but there's no difference between synthesized and sampled kits.
I'll try the albino demo tonight and report here.

I tried albino and it has the same problem:
when I want to view another layer it takes about 2 seconds before the gui updates. The same if I select a different oscillator type: the dropdown list appears instantly and also closes instantly when I select something, but it takes 2 seconds before the gui reflects the change (in this case just change some text)
Turning buttons is no problems, but using tabs is.
I experience exactly the same problesm in RM4 and Albino 3.
I'm using an intel build-in soundcard (C-media AC97 Audio Device as reported by asio4all) using asio4all v2.8 with 1024 samples buffer.
other system specs: PIV 3.0 GHz, 512 megs of ram, ati radeon 9200, running windows XP home SP2

Thank you. Though I have no good news, as we never found anything, though get some reports from Albino users about it. We were just not able to reproduce this and it was so extreme seldom ( I would say one from 1000 customers), that its very hard to track what the particular reason for this slowness is.
I can think of two things, either it being soundcard reklated (which should not be the case, but you never know) or being graphic cards/drivers related. But I have no solution, I'm sorry.
I dont think that generally the Graphics cards is too slow, I just tried on a old AMD here with a GeForce 7300 GS (which should be twice as fast as yours) and there is no noticeable delay. Radeon cards I only have much faster ones, so I cannot say anything about the 9200 in general.
You not have too much of Memory for Windows XP, I mean I see that XP (depending on some settings) here after startup uses around 280 Mb, so if you run other stuff too it might get tight, though I would then expect this to be a general problem with other plugins too.

Bummer. Thanks for your time anyway.
The ram should not be an issue. I run a very tight and optimized system. The machine is old, and ram is expensive for this old technology. (I want to postpone buying a new machine for about a year, after I have moved)
I'm going to format and reinstall it anyway (among other things to upgrade to professional), maybe that helps. If that doesn't help, I'm afraid I'm going to have to sell it, it's no good sitting here on my hd

Well, i will say something, i have running rm4 on a very old PC with a RadeOn Card (don't know which one, but it must be 6,7 years old) and on Win98SE and it's still running without any grafical problems...
