Longer intervals between updates now, but so much in them!

Midi Fold ala Live is in there now (Hide Unused Note Rows), a bit better actually because you can zoom them up to fullsize.

Also Triangles are now an option in fixed mode midi editor (drum editing), better than diamonds imo.

Solo-In-Front with adjustable dim.

Tracks can be set to auto-arm for VSTis/midi recording.

Cut/Copy Selected Area of Selected items now includes the 'gap' or empty space, like other daws

Right-click can now time select and select items in one stroke (Alt toggles)

True Split Tool now (edit cursor doesn't move, selection can be unchanged (or select left/right optionally)...same actions for edit cursor also.

That's the main points for me.

Just have to show you guys a pic of Midi fold and triangles in action!

I've wanted that auto-record-arm for ages :hyper: :hail:

...not that I'm doing much recording at the moment :cry:

And please note that this thread is to provide info to those who might be interested when Reaper adds features previously lacking, which indeed might already be in other DAWs. Uniqueness is not necessarily being claimed here.

While I'm here, some might be interested to know that I worked out a way of setting up a Reaper custom action (macro) that amounts to 'three point editing' - you mark the point where you want to paste in some audio, you highlight the section elsewhere which is to be the source of the paste, press one key and the highlighted section is copied and inserted at the target point, complete with splitting the original audio there and crossfading in and out. Very handy for classical session editing - possibly deeply boring for others.

http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php?p= ... ostcount=3 has the details on that.

u reap.r. fanbois u, alwayz klustering this forum wid dis brainwashing sschtuff..

no seriously: great update :!: :love:

and great attitude of you guys to "keep the flame down" :)

I shant solo the same! :D

mouse-wheel+mod for solo-in-front real-time level adjustment is brilliant!
Plus using SIF over regular solo seems to have disposed of the occasional click/pop on enabling/disabling solo.

great update!

Those macros are outstanding :) . And who ever of you all made the feature request for the auto-arm for recordings, that was a great one, much appreciated.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I'm working on a set of custom actions in Reaper that will form a complete set of tools (!!) for editing classical and speech recordings, or any other recordings which result in a sequence of takes along the timeline, rather than punched-in takes in situ.

I am gradually putting them into a new thread over on the Reaper forums - see http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=25712 for details.

For anyone interested in that kind of work, the custom actions will cover these tasks (with appropriate auto crossfades, though you'd have to adjust those to taste yourself) -

* 4-point copy with edit preview

* 4-point copy with no preview

* 4-point move with edit preview

* 4-point move with no preview

* 3-point copy

* 3-point move

* 3-point copy to take

* 3-point move to take

* Crossfade after drag or paste overlay

* Replace-paste as take

* Insert-paste

* Compile edits to end of project with preview

The preview facilities come courtesy of a new SWS Marker Actions extension - beta at present - which can be downloaded from
http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php?p= ... stcount=12

For anyone not interested, please ignore this post... :)

Art - this looks like good stuff.

You can export custom actions yeah?

Maybe Justin should be petitioned to set up a special section in the resources page for custom actions. Then people wouldn't have to find "that thread" when looking for some custom actions like these.

It's already there, under Resources\Keymaps:

My thread's in the tips & tricks section rather than being lost in the general section - but once I've finished the whole thing, and I'm reasonably confident that they really do work and that there's nothing coming along soon which would improve the way they work, I'll put them into the 'action library'. Actually I'm minded to package them up as actual reaperkeys files, together with documentation, as a zip archive somewhere.

I suspect that with these kinds of actions now being possible that Reaper could hold its head up pretty high in the classical/speech audio editing world, but if anyone can describe something others do of this kind that could be added to my set, then do let me know.

Emphasis on "of this kind"! - I'm talking about fairly targetted features here.
