From the readme.txt file. Automation is planned for the full version.

The SQ8L ("L" stands for "Light") is the free demo version of the
forthcoming SQ8X ("X" for "eXtended"). Besides any bugs that will
(hopefully) be removed in the full version (see "Known problems")
and planned features that won't find their way into the light
version (see "Things to come..."), there are only a few
limitations. Those are:

- Polyphony limited to 8 voices.
- Program change messages ignored.
- When used with a sequencer, the only sound the host can save
within the song file is the one in the edit buffer.
- No Split/Layer to combine several sounds.
- No internal sequencer (and there will never be one).
- No automation (only MIDI input).

Any news regarding the development of the SQ8X?

I've recently moved to Mac and hope that the paid for version of SQ8 will also be available for OSX. Until then I'll either have to run SQ8L on my Win laptop or keep my ESQ-M connected in my rack.

Great synth! I have ESQ-1 and now I can double polyphony with SQ8L.

few short clips from my ESQ-1.

I like its 80's sound very much , some nice keys can come out of this synth ,i did this from default bank ,it just came itself from patches.

just drums are samples and no fx.

Nice example. Its amazing you used no FX on this. Sounds very 80's, as you say. I will dig out my Member's Only jacket!

Any new updates?

Looking at the previous releases it should be about time for a new update.

And where is the comemrcial version?

What do you want to be updated in SQ8L ?

Can we ever get an interface that makes sense? I realise it is trying to emulate the hardware, but why not release a second version with a decent inteface for those of us who aren't die-hard nostalgics?

I agree, especially that LOOONG popup menus are not so professional, they're too difficult to scroll down without losing the eye-reference or grip with the mouse.

Since I tried some others presetbanks the whole preset system is f*cked up :(

Post

Hey
Since the new version, i have the default bank in 4th position, and it starts with 2 empty banks.
WOuld anyone know how to put back the default bank back as default ?

Post

Unless I misunderstand the question, in the latest version the preset banks ARE in the Bank C and Bank D locations, and the 1st two banks are for user patches.

I think the factory patches are duplicated in the A & B positions until you overwrite them.

Unfortunately, there is no quick way I can see to swap entire banks in 1 step.

By exporting and importing bank files (File/Export Bank File), you can copy/move 40 patches at a time. This would be the quickest way, but you would have to do it in 4 passes to get them all.

funny... i haven't had any problems whatsoever with this. i love it. i find the interface easy. i never even owned a real one, but somehow it makes perfect sense to me...

great sound, too.

so, the 8X version, any word? anyone got the inside scoop? :D

I just wanna chime in here and say that this is a bloody FANTASTIC synth.

Never owned a real one so I can't comment on how it compares, but that doesn't matter. It stands up on its own merits - head and shoulders above many other VSTi out there in my opinion.

BRILLIANT!

I LOVE IT!
