Hello everyone at the KVR forums.

http://sf.sva.ee

I have made scale and chord finder based on javascript with sound support (through flash). Mostly for myself for writing songs, but also for the community. It is useful for songwriting, or learning music theory.

The features are (v1.2)

* Scale finder
* Chord finder
* Piano display
* Audio support
* Chord sequencer
* Renoise copy http://renoise.com

Problems:

* Flash has pretty bad timing mechanisms and it isn't very reliable for timing notes so some glitches occur during playback.
* Layout is garbled with IE6 or lower.

Anyway. I hope some of you find this program useful. And please let me know about features you would like to see or bugs with the software.

Don't ask for following features cause they are already planned:

* Guitar chord/scale display
* Better pattern editor
* Analyzer

Pretty nice site, thanks for dropping the link, and of course building it! :)

My pleasure.

Just don't forget to tell me about bugs and request features. As I have my own ways of working, I don't know what other people would like to see on the program. :)

Nice, but can you change the colours of the keyboard. It's hard to see if a black key is black or dark blue. And maybe the chord keys could be shown by points or crosses on the keys, not as different colour.

No sound here :( Using FireFox 2 with Flash 9.

Firefox 2 is currently not supported. (I don't mean it won't work, I don't know if it does or not, I am just not actively testing on that browser).

There may be some problems with audio on some platforms and some configurations. If you get any javascript error messages, you can PM them to me.

Will you make a standalone version on completion? This is pretty handy.

Thanks for making.

I updated the files online, now it should work also with FF2. You need a little patience for the sound to get loaded. I'll add some indicator for this later.

Yeah, I have thought about making a standalone version. But it's easyer for me to keep it updated right now as a web application.

Firefox 3 doesn't seem to work either.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Also fixed whatever problems there were with FF3. Added some indicator aswell, but it is not that functional yet.

Nice start!

Very cool - it helped me on a middle 8 I was trying to work out the bassline on :)
