Beta 2 of Open Guitar VSTi "Made to sound Good!"

Open Guitar sound synthesis is created using single note samples and DSP filters. So it's not a loop player, it's a true instrument which can play any MIDI sequence you want (range D1..C4). MIDI files are included as example of accurate guitar sequencing. The "hammer on" and "pull off" techniques are possible.

1) Steel and Strat sounds ready, Nylon next week.
please check the new mp3s
http://dashsignature.com/examples/open_ ... l_solo.mp3
http://dashsignature.com/examples/open_ ... t_solo.mp3

those are the same midi file, rendered first with Open Guitar Steel + Ableton Reverb
and then with Open Guitar Strat + Ableton EQ Compressor Reverb and Aradaz Amp Sim.
(Rendering Open Guitar is just like recording a real guitar)

2) Base sample loadable per string, you can make mixed guitars!
Each set is only 5 MB, the DLL is 1.8 MB.

3) Reduced CPU usage

4) current GUI Image

Download video button didn't work for me.
Does it say beta available on request and purchase?
Did you decide not to make demo version available, just audio demos?

Post

Hi,

it's in beta but availble as pre-buy at 35.00 USD,
after the beta time the retail price will be 45.00 USD (but you will also have the Demo to download to try before you buy)

News:

Open Guitar Beta updated, now Steel and Strat sounds are ready 100%

Currently Open Guitar includes these carefully programmed patterns:

Am7 - D7.mid
Am7 - Em7 strum.mid
Am7 - Em7 var.mid
Am7 - Em7.mid
Am7 - Em.mid
Bm bass + strum var.mid
Bm bass + strum.mid
D - D - F# - Em - G.mid
D/A - Bm strum.mid
D strum bass.mid
D strum var.mid

The patterns are 2, 4 or 8 bars longs, with accurate strumming and arpeggios,
hammer on and pull off embelishments. You can play them at any tempo and with
any sound as they are MIDI files. (hammer on and pull off only works with Open Guitar VSTi)
(some of those are used in http://dashsignature.com/examples/open_ ... t_solo.mp3)

There will be many more in the release package, but this is a very time consuming job, so I will not cover ALL the possible chords, but you can learn form these and make your own or simply traspose them

ciao

Your demo "Obsessions" is nice. Not sure if I noticed any hammer-ons/pull-offs.
String bending (pitch bend) would still be nice feature. If it takes so much cpu for that could you have on/off switch for pitch bend so if not using it you get cpu back?
Will we be able to create our own midi files for custom patterns?
Can we play any chord we can devise?
What are chances of letting users load our own custom/existing samples?
How long is beta period? What is cut-off date for $35 price?

Post

I like the Strat demo posted above a lot more than the Steel demo. With the sounds/settings you used I thought you had harnessed Harrison's "Rocky" Strat for a minute there :)

I thought the Strat sounded great

please tell me this will be avaliable for Mac vst

Thanks, there are many of those in the arpeggios

Maybe I could do that, no promise

of course yes! That's what Open Guitar is for

Yes in its MIDI range.

This image should help

That's already in the beta you can change any single string with the sample you like, it must just be MONO WAV 16 bit and loud, hard plucked sound.

No date, when I'll be happy with the plugin result there will be the official release and the the downloadable demo. Could be one week or one month.

Thanks buscemi and minx for the comments, <grin>

Agree that the Steel one needs to sound better.

About Mac version, maybe one day, sorry but I want to be honest it all depends on sales of the PC VSTi

Post

I may be able to buy at original pre-release price.
Will all updates and improvements be free after that?
Thanks for the detailed responses.
Hope you can do pitch bend unless it's too much trouble.
If you do, I'll really need to start playing my guitar again.

One more question(s):

I doubt that this is possible because I'm thinking guitar right now.
Can we load samples to specific keys that may be a couple of steps down from the piano tuned key, etc.? In other words, can I load a G note to the A key and so on to create alternate tunings. Also, can I mute strings one and six in order to create four-string guitar and do alternate tunings with that? In other words, I'd like to be able to mimic what I do on the guitar.

Edit: Never mind on the loading of non-standard sampled notes to various keys for alternate tunings. I was thinking too much in the way of fretboard. I can just modify fingerings on keyboard to achieve same results. Sorry for confusion.

I think I prefer the steel version of Obsessions over the Strat.
I listened to the funky guitar dance demo again. Cool strumming. Somehow it didn't stick with me that this is a strummer tool, too??
May send pm about it since there's not much activity in topic lately.

Is pdf manual available before purchase?

Post

Just purchased. Awaiting download link.

pm and separate e-mail sent.

It is not a strummer, that's probably my fault since I mispoke that earlier... I don't know why, I never thought it was a strummer.

But there's a unique way to score the midi that makes it sound like it's being strummed :)

I really like it and it's actually a bit better than I'd dared hope.
