About the DS, this is certainly the cheapest portable device to create sound/music/noise/younameit these days. The Korg DS-10 is incredible. Talking about the tube and multiple Korgs, you sould check this out ( unless allergic to Dubstep ) :mckenic wrote:THEEEE two best reasons to own a DS IMHO!Chopper wrote:check Nitrotracker, also GlitchDS.

(4 Korgs in this vid ). I had no chance to check, but two new vids are out on youtube ( beein' at work and all ), involving 6 DSes with KORG software ( order by latest post ). Fake or not ?
Last the homebrew scene is just brilliant. The latest Nitrotracker is incredible ( it just miss the effects of Fasttracker, but the developement is pretty fast, so it should be a matter of a few weeks/monthes ). ProteinDS is pretty good to mess aroud, GlitchDS is more than ian interresting concept, it is very usable too.
Then you can emulate quite a few 8 bit computers. So you can launch, for example, FrodoDS ( C64 emul ) to produce SIDs, export through your USB key from the Memory card, and then read it through a Hardsid device for authentic flavor. Same with .xm modules ( made with Nitrotracker ), to be messed up in ReViSit ( or Milkytracker, or Modplugtracker, up to you ).
Lord I l love my DS ! Too bad I have to share it with my 7 years old kid !
PS : I'm not payed by Nintendo, by the way... Oh and dunno if already mentionned, but the Korg can be ordered through Amazon US ( pre-order ) if you're not into ordering in Japan

My my, I just forgot about repeaterDS. Pretty good to mess your sounds.
And midi over WIFI too.
Not so much time left to play Mario Kart with all these softwares floating around.
THX for the link, I just forgot to post it, best page about audio DS homebrews around. And I'm not talking about the graphic killer appz around.
Best 150€ ( +40€ for a linker ) spent in a long time.

this track was made using glitchds, output to a boss space echo and recorded in one goDogboy73 wrote:I know what you mean now. It's one of those devices for hooking up an SD cart to your computer so you can write stuff to for use on the DS ...... I think! There seem to be a fair few third part apps availabe for the DS that you can download & then write to a blank card/cart. Never tried any of these myself but some of them look interesting.musikmachine wrote:It's a micro sd adapter (had to look it up)
edit: or a flashcard adapter as it's more commonly known.![]()
repeater is also great, havent really used many others yet

of course, mate. Take a look at this site first :Aural Chaos wrote:Care to share some links for those?machuky wrote:And I'm not talking about the graphic killer appz around.
http://www.ndshb.com/
not always up to date, but an essential source of information.
Then take a look at this :
http://colors.brombra.net/
and animatee is good fun too :
an example here -> http://www.area-56.de/chapter56/2008/01 ... s-fun.html
and here :
http://aymanalagouza.blogspot.com/2008/ ... matee.html
google to find it ( or go through : http://www.ndshb.com/ )
But here we are venturing into 'non audio' related stuff, so not really a KVR topic...
Anyway, have fun with these little gems !
( and don't forget you can try them using an emulator, in case you did not rush to your NDS dealer already )
Cheers

Thanks for that music app list link - I had seen it before but lost my bookmark!!!
Ive not tried Nitro in a bit as I had some issues with my DS-Xtreme card... bought a new AceKardRPG and am up and running again so I gotta check it...
What AMAZES me is the apps like monome control-like thing over wireless... stunningly inventive use. Im sure rungate would love some of this stuff.
Ive had a brief mess with Colors - looks interesting but Im really excited to check out the animation stuff...
Thanks again
Dave

No problem. My pleasure.
And for the record, avoid the DS-Extreme cards if you can, mine half-worked for less than one month. And I know of two people who had exactly the same issue. Try to fetch a M3 Real or an R4, although I heard good things about other brands.
OKay, have fun with your portable music machines, and THX again to the makers of KORG DS-10, it really is a killer app. Even for non tarnce loving people ( but for them too )

OMG!
Animatee - ROX!!!

Thanks again for this! WOW!
And from personal experience - DS-Xtreme cards have no further support from the devs - forum gone, no discussions anywhere... BAD!

Sorry to go off topic again but that Colours program for the DS looks amazing. I can't beleive what people are doing with that. Awesome.
Got to get me one of those R4 DS cards to start using these homebrew titles. Amazing stuff. The DS just keeps getting better & better

Got my ds today.
Very impressed with it so far, the touchscreen is reason enough to get one. I got a nice bundle with about £45 worth of extra stuff for free so well worth it. Gameplay is much better thsn the psp so i can only imagine what it's going to be like to make music with!
@Dogboy, from what i've read the cyclods is the better one but i don't know much about them. Check it out: http://www.cyclopsds.com/cgi-bin/cyclod ... sevolution
