Definitely sounds like something I would make 
It has a very nice flow though the details seem so fractured. It's like you can feel out the underlying logic in the outwardly apparent insanity.

Sounds a little bit like "Thomas Newmann" meets moments of "Primal Eyes (We are all Parasites / Charlie Horse Mix)" from the Parasite Eve Remixes album. Of course I've come to expect unusual combinations from you ever since your column started back in December 2005, with issue 94 of Computer Music.
It's actually weird to think that over half my issues of the magazine don't have anything resembling "Off The Dial" as I've gotten so used to it over the last few years.

thanks for the listen and critique, guys. :-)
most of my unedited 'improvisaations' just roll right out, first or second takes. but in this case i needed almost a dozen takes to get it right. the trickiest part is managing to get close enough to a drum kit sound and a regular pulse to make it audible in this way, rather than as mere chaos, but far enough to make it sound unexpected and un-genre-fiable.

Yeah, no kidding. Your dad must have dosed you early on with that progjazz "spring fresh rubato melodicism" pap (think ALL of the vocals on Larks Tongue In Aspic, which are completely inexcusable) or literally every single Weather Report song which, no matter how wicked, somehow veers wildly into yucky enya territory.
