Here is the real fun stuff... I have a patch I created for Numerology that converts CC data sent out on ccs 12, 13 and 92 by my Kaoss Pad to Pitch bend, volume and gate (note on/off) data. I use this to get theremin sounds and such from any VST. I modified it to send pitch bend on three seperate channels, modulation depth and gate. I convert this data with two separate midi/cv converters so I can contol the pitch of two VCOs independantly and trigger a single (or multiple ADSR). I also sent pitch, mod depth and gate data to my V-Synth which is run into the audio in of my modular. So basically, when I touch my Kaoss pad, it sends out a note data for C3, the X coordinate adjusts pitch of VCO1 and the V-synth and the Y coordinate adjusts pitch of VCO2 and the mod depth on the V-Synth.

Here is a picture of the patch...

So in the end this is V-Synth + Modular -> Boss DD6, recorded in Live and further processed with Arts Acoustic reverb and PSP Vinatge Warmer. Pretty simple, huh?

Third modA 10min 20sec
Third modB 10min 50sec
Third modC 11min 23sec

In all this jam was more than thirty minutes, for sanity's sake I broke it up into three parts (which segue very nicely, if I do say so), other than that there were no edits or overdubs. There is a pretty wide dynamic range, so be careful with the volume. That being said, it sound pretty devastating at high volume.

Listening through all three, I'm thinking you should start a sound design company. Awesome noises and bass sounds. Some of it even gets atmospheric (ie the end of #2)
Gets a little psychotic now and then, but not unlistenable

....now run with it, boy! Can't wait to hear what music you come up with.

Meh, this is all just fun, goofin' around stuff. I'm glad you like it. I know our friend 22tape is also building a Eurorack kit, I'm excited to hear what he comes up with.

I'm still feeling out the boundaries for this thing (where musical becomes psychotic) and what I realize is how much software shields us from configurations that yield undesired results. I mean it never occurred to me that tuning an oscillator meant establishing a base frequency and the range. Also we take for granted things like mixers, mod matrices and linear vs. exponential vs. logarithmic amplification/attenuation.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed it.

No, but it looks real huh? It's plastic with some weird gel inside. Not a real flower either. I've been waiting for someone to wig out about that.

Yeah, I get more use out of it as a midi controller than anything but it's a lot of fun. Another neat trick I got to work was using a Note Quantize module and careful setting of value scales to get the Kaoss Pad and D-Beams to send out scales rather than continuous pitch data. Two voice Theremins here I come!

Well, actually I do have a PadKontrol, and I've also used my Wacom as a MIDI controller in the past. I guess the more significant part of what you're using is Numerology. I somehow missed that one completely, but I'm off to check it out now...

Yeah, applications like Bidule and Numerology really make controllers like the KP3 and such shine. For instance, I really wanted the flam function that the pad control provides so I set up a patch in Numeology that allows me to emulate that functionality with the Kaoss pad. I bet it would be a lot more fun with a Wacom tablet or touch screen though because you've got so much more space
