Then we can raise our prices to compensate (that Kore video probably cost roughly what we make in a year to produce) and we can go out of business. That'll be a great plan, but anything to make you happy.

I'll just note that the difference between all the videos you linked to and the ones I made is that they're all narrated by people that professionally narrate tutorial videos. None of them made the product they're demonstrating. If that's what gets your rocks off, so be it.
cool i know what your saying about NI being on a bigger scale

its just that you asked for an example of a different video.

your video may be the first port of call for potential customers, you must have spent a little on the audio damage graphics at the start.

the other videos..... and i just picked them at random....
have structure
make a fast point
use better music loops
use pauses rather than "erms.."

well i supposed its a finished project now.

OHM FORCE ran a comp for tutorials some were pretty interesting.

maybe audio Damage could run one, you have a loyal following of experimentalists, i recon i would be phatt.

hey I'm getting a bit drawn into this, :help: :-o but if your trying to sell plugins, have a good shop window that's all I'm thinking.

As a company i recon Audio Damage do some really interesting plugs, but my first port of call for a new plug is watch the video on youtube etc.

why do i like Chris Randall's videos more than the 'professional' ones?
Quite simple: the dev himself shows how the plug works with (Dusted William said it before) humour, one can follow his tweaking and thinking easily, because he knows, what he's talking about. He really explains instead of hyping the plug up (like in Spectrasonic's videos) or drowning the infos in music (like NI's videos) and breathless staccatos.
I use AD plugs in every song, no exception (even the old Reason-made tracks get some AD). This is the most incredible value for money.
Why should the dev change something that works well for almost all of his customers?

they've certainly had good reviews in the magazines!

Just fifteenthin'...

The video's are great. Have also watched the others (Ricochet, Replicant, Dr Device) and they've been great visual aids to understanding the plugs (along with fiddling), especially with Automaton.

The style suits the AD vibe perfectly... we do not need Ed Winchester style corporate voiceovers.

Cheers.

When i first heard about Automaton i thought they had lost the plot over at the AD HQ. Game of life sequencer WTF ? I'm not that big on random.
However after watching the videos i understood what it was all about and think it looks like a great plugin.

So at least for me the videos does exactly what they should. Sure he won't win any video producer awards with them but they never were intended for that. For me they worked perfectly.

not to speak for anyone at AD, but, did you consider the videos are done this way because Maybe thats how they wanted them? I would much prefer a video by the guys who designed and coded the plugin then some announcer reading a script with fancy powerpoint presentations.

had a bit of fun trying automaton out this evening-
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F5B3GWR1
a couple of drum loops, a bit of repetitive bass and a bit from a certain old jazz classic recording- an instance of automaton on each track ,chewing things up! its not serious, just spent an hour throwing things at each other!

Post

actually, maybe you can just play the track from here-

rather than all the fuss of downloading

bumm! that is a bit slow to play too..
anyone recommend a good host that will just stream/play an mp3 quickly
(and free?)

fileden.com, but beware of the advertisements (pass)!

Doesn't last Fm do this too?

There's actually a few free places to upload music and then stream back... maybe someone else can drop some other links.

...I really hate megaupload. HUGE BANNERS.

Can't wait to see the review in CM magazine or Automaton. I bet it will be another 10/10!

KBKB, I'll say one last thing (okay, two) and leave it at that.

1 - I didn't spend anything on the little intro bumper. I made it myself using the same program I use to make our user interfaces.

2 - "phatt"? Really? Is that where you want to take this conversation?

Anyhow, I'll just keep making them like I make them, since that seems to work for most everybody except the ritalin-snorting set.

Hi Chris,

I really enjoy your videos, I bought Dr. Device directly after watching the video.
It wasn't because of the great marketing presentation but of the clear and dry (in humouros terms) explanation of this little programm.

Just my two cents on this.

I bought Replicant on the strength of the Video for it. Relaxed style and presentation with a light sprinkling of humour.

Fine by me, please keep it up Chris :)
