Really, really nice. I think a demo based on "pure" waveforms rather than samples reveals more what the synth engine can do.
As I haven't given it any attention (apart from being surprised by the hype around it) I thought of Omnisphere as an advanced "pad machine". This demo proved my wrong.

i guess some of the reactions here are the living proof why it was a smart decision of Spectrasonics not to post any demos on their site until they have a broad collection that shows as many different applications as possible so evrybody will be able to find something that suits his/her particular style of music.
But i can understand that Spectrum felt the need to make a statement after some people still insisted that Omnisphere is just a glorified rompler, when it really is a very capable synthesizer.
I use Omnisphere for more filmish, jazzy and moody stuff and it fits my needs perfectly.
But I for one was happy to see that it can cater to the straight dance oriented stuff just as well as has been proven by the Rude Boy demo.
Sure there are many other softsynth that can do sweeps and bleeps but very few that deliver the same impact and clarity IMHO.
On a side note-Tob is a toptalented composer and if you check out his other demos at the Spectrasonics website you can see that he actually is a master of many styles.
I have the biggest respect for his incredible talents-both as a musician and sounddesigner!

Eric, can I just ask about the vocals. I know you said they were from one of your libraries (Vocal Planet?), which im assuming are not included in Omnisphere. Were they 'played' or effected using Omnisphere or placed and edited in the DAW itself?
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you for the Roland D50, that thing cost me a good portion of my youth! I'm sure Omnisphere will be just as impressive when it arrives

Ihmo this is firstly a demo of Tobias very good skills
But as far as it goes for Omnisphere - well yeah, it's a synth as well. Knowing what one can do within a "limited" (feels ugly to say, i guess Omnisphere as synth isn't very limited at all) set of options this definitely rocks but this one not on the impressive side of things.

So, can you sidechain inside Omnisphere? I mean, there's some heavy sidechain compressing all over this track.

That could aswell be volume automation. Takes a little more work but the end result is almost the same.

I doubt that this very effect can be done via volume automation. Well, of course, it *could* be done, but it's more than just "a little more work" to have each of the hundreds of kicks suppress some other signals. Thanks Tobias for clearing some things up...
This demo has certainly helped to banish any doubts I had concerning 'Omni'. Until I heard the demo I had the feeling it was going to be too clinical sounding (I hardly ever use FM8 and Absynth for that reason.. which I own). The song contest showed us more about the talents of the composers than the individuality of the 'Omni'. So I was floundering a bit until now.
On another note.. I do feel that some of the comments on this forum are a bit abstract sometimes... Eric and his team have constantly proved their integrity and commitment to us the consumer, just look how fast we got a demo showing the other side of 'Omni' and not just any old tat like some companies create. Their involvement in this forum also shows where they are coming from and I feel its only fair to give them the kudos they deserve sometimes...
critique is important but lets temper it with a sense of fairness. OK! I'm getting off my soapbox now

I listened to the vocal and instrumental 2 times each. Some thoughts:
The song is pretty generic. I don't see a lot of people "getting down" to it in a club on a dancefloor. It is also TOO SHORT to be a dance song
Everything in it can be done with synth1 and EQ/effects/automation.
If spectrasonics spent so long making the damn thing why hasn't someone USED IT to write something worth showing off.
No demo version and to get a demo song you have to use a freaking map that will lead you somewhere on kvr

Of course there are synths that can do those kinds of things. it simply illustrates that there is much more to it than sample play back. It's version 1.0.1 so they haven't got around to some things yet.

Omnisphere is a killer synth. I was on it all day yesterday and it is deep. It sounds gorgeous. Constructive feedback is fine but you don't even know what this thing can do.

Put simply, Omnisphere lives up to its promise. I'm not a fanboi of any product or company. If Spectrasonics has dropped the ball on Omnisphere, I'd have said so. They didn't.
Is Omnisphere the Second Coming? Of course not. It is very, very good? Definitely. Is it a ground-breaker? Yeah, I think so. YMMV as always. It's a big world with a lot of different points of view. Think for yourself.
