The wait was "almost over" a year ago....
but it's better later then never.

Great news about the authorization.

Demo? How soon? This year?

Really? We announced TH1 at the Winter NAMM (Jan 2008) and shipping Q2/2008. We're actually shipping it on Oct. 15th, 15 days after Q2 end.

Demo: playable, when we ship
Demo: audio, even now, if somebody wants to send me her/his dry guitar tracks we will build demos after those files, attaching the screenshot of the settings in TH1 so you can check it out yourself.

PM me if you're looking for something like that.

Regards,
Sorry, you are right, there was no official announcement... but there was info released here and there.
I remember the APR 2007 CM interview with the release of the SLO-X88 plug, I even recorded a little demo with it in MAY2007

http://www.andras-shimon.com/TEMP/X88.mp3

It was probably just wishful thinking on my part but it sounded to me like the plug was almost done....

Anyway I am happy it is here!

Sooo... how is Oct15 just 15 days after Q2?
I thought Q2 ended on June30 :-o
Or Mar31 if you go by the US goverment financial quaters.

The concept looks all the same to me (GearBox, Amplitube, etc), so I'd be more curious of what the "other great amp sim" would be. Still love the old GuitarSuite though.

And what can this baby do? I see that you can do mic positioning (with weird names for mic brands, etc), amp/cab matching, some routing. Stuff that nearly all plugins can do nowadays even though I sometimes prefer to have all that seperately.

So... what's the price and what's the CPU usage? And what does it give me over everything else what's out there already?

You'll find out yourself. The pics is a teaser and a way to show you some of the things we do that others don't or that we simply do differently (and you might happen to like it better).

shame on me... I meant Q3... it was meant for June actually... but you can't imagine how many things we worked on that weren't spec'd out at the start...

We're trying to introduce a partially new concept in UI with the help of an undoublty great-sounding engine.

Hm... the only thing I'd have really prefered from other plugins would have been full control over mic placement, mic selection and cabinet selection (the thing that Line6 lacks the most, and others fail without massive CPU load or using impulses). Along that goes free routing of the stompboxes (which Line6 can't do either).

Or using plugins seperately for just stompboxed or cabinets, but all of them are just darn CPU intensive. This is why I prefer StudioDevil's VGA and the SimulAnalog plugins (who're unfortunately pure mono only, at least the amp). But that is just me. I'm pretty much stuffed, just haven't scratched my real possibilities yet.

And... I still like to know, what other amp Thomas Serafini actually made.

The other big Italian company....

He also did the Scarbee Vintage Keyboard FX

Ah, meaning AT - a concept I liked, till they were all like "new amp models, pay again - and pay like 400bucks in the process". Not to mention their ripoff AT2Duo "demo" that's bundled with come software.

I... might pass on this one - too many tools out there that're similar in setup, use and functionality.

If it doesn't do any better for live playing purposes than all the others (and they're all lousy compared to what I can do with any hardware setup), I'll defenitely pass as well.

Full control over mic placement = you have it
Mic and Cab selection = we have it and our CPU overhead is lower than the competition in our tests
Routing = in TH1 you can place any number of stomps anywhere you want and it's also easy to place-swap-copy-delete them

Live playing = we have our concept, although, maybe, not fully implemented in vers. 1.0
TH1 was developed from scratch with Live playing in mind
Our Bank|Sound|Variation preset structure is there to testify it
Those banks correspond to midi bank selection
the sounds correspond to the 10s in any midi pedal board
the 8 variations are the first 8 midi program changes in each 10: x0, x1, x2, x3...

Another concept for live:
all the Smart Controls are mapped to Midi CC, Program Changes or notes.
You can assign any parameter (more than one) to a Smart Control.
One example of a Smart Control strip for Live playing would be:
Smart 1 = amp(s) channel selection (switch)
Smart 2 = overdrive/booster bypass (switch)
Smart 3 = Tap Tempo (switch)
Smart 4 = Distortion amount (mapped to all the distortion inducing modules in TH1 and inversely reducing the outpul level making the sound get distorted without increasing in percieved level) (continuous)
Smart 5 = Wha (continuous)
Smart 6 = Switch between Chorus Delay kind of sound and a Delay/Reverb one (Smart switching bypass state for all Chorus/Delay modules and at the same time doing the opposite on Reverb/Delays) (switch)
Smart 7 = Crossfader (via continuos or switch) in the TH1 mixer to crossfade between the 2 parallel routings (continuous)
Smart 8 = Tuner 'mute' switch (switch)

TH1 is designed to be able to interface with any midi pedalboard around or any other kind of midi controller... you're not forced into a proprietary standard, since we don't like to do that.

Let me add:
the Smart Control will be pre-assigned for all presets coming with TH1 and those are also a great way to play around with TH1 possibilities in no time and with no idea of what could happen beneath them

Our philosophy is:
- you have to be (just) a guitarist to use TH1
- you might be a techy guitarist to play with the sounds and make your own
- you can be an engineer minded guy to dive it deep and create the unthinkable
