I'd say it's a must have judging by the demos I've heard and the fact that it's Ben and company behind it. I know I can't wait until it comes out :help: (and I'm the Absynth forum moderator)

Yes, from what I understand it is all resynthesized and not realtime. That of course is what is so interesting about it. The resynthesized sound can be manipulated in ways not possible with audio.

I am also very curious to try the morphing and see how sophisticated it is.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it's COMPLETELY resynthesized, or if the resynthesized parts are inserted here and there. If it is ALL resynth, then it was even more amazing than I thought. I've NEVER gotten results like that with vocals, or anything really, when using resynthesis.

Somewhere back in this thread (or another?) there was mention that it was all resynthesis though it was broken into parts to make it easier to do the various effects. That resynthesis quality stands out for sure!

Here is a piece I did over the weekend which showcases my own sound design for Alchemy. I hope you enjoy it:

Alchemical Visions

http://www.wusik.com/song.php?id=1764

8MBS ( it a higher bitrate for better clarity)

You will hear unusual soundscapes, voice manipulations ( that's my old mentor Allen Stange!) , bass, percussion, analog and hybrid sounds, along with a flute solo that seems to change when playing. Also, nature sounds with a lokota flute. Also, Listen for my cat Butterscotch when processed thru alchemy. :-) He is on his last legs this weekend, so kinda of a tribute to him :-( but..glad to have him make his debut here :-)

this is 100% alchemy.

Hi, can you drive Alchemy from the midi-out of Atomic?
Looking forward to the now D/L ing demo tune

Its going to be great to dig in and start messing with samples, here in Alchemy. There just isn't too much of this stuff around, Cube, Spear, some other toys... But basically, Camel, has a really spaced out vibe to be enjoyed. I want to see how the step sequencers look, and how the envelopes are, and what this deal with 16? or 18? Or some silly number of analog model filters. I know the filters off space are radical, but there aren't 18 or 20, or 30... So Ben has coded up a storm.

One of the things to be of interest is how Alchemy just adds power to the rest of your studio. You are really going to be able to get in there with your samples and tweak the partials, add them to the noise oscillators, morph between tweaked out samples, and then run them through all the filters and envelopes, and step sequencers.....

OMG, this synth is a beast!! It is a class a monster I bet. I totally feel pdxindy, what you have been saying, and KoolKeys you are totally right on man, it is hard to grasp the abilities of this synth. I keep reading the spec page at CamAud.com and am just wowzers....

edit

@sophtrazor,

No worries mate, you are just going to have to download the demo, check out the re-synthesis... This is totally wicked here. A totally cool synth, and it will have plenty of built in FX to be the icing on the cake of your sound.

Thanks for the vote of confidence ew :)
Can Alchemy be loaded as an effect? I would really like this to be possible and id be more likely to buy it seeing as i have sold Camelphat and Camelspace
As others have pointed out (thanks!) Alchemy will not function as an effect - its an instrument. As discussed, the resynthesis engine needs to analyse the sound first - it can't be done in realtime (this is similar to other audio manipulation stuff - eg. melodyne).

I think that only sections that are normal sample playback are the last two sentances when Caz introduces the instrument samples and says thanks for listening. The whole of the section up till 'My voice can be slowed down until...' is all analysed with additive and spectral engines.

Alchemy responds to midi messages - so as long as you can route midi messages from Atomic into Alchemy in your host, then the answer is yes. I believe you can do most if not all of what's possible with Atomic with the arpeggiator in Alchemy though, which is another option.

Thanks for all the enthusiasm :D

I hope all the excitement prevails, and does not dissapear due to non release... I have committed to purchasing Alchemy as soon as it appears, but cannot fathom why so many demo mp3's are around, when the synth is not yet available.

Yes... there are beta testers, but why not let us (at least C5K owners) buy the beta now :(

Sorry... Just hate it when the Credit Card is in position, but the goods aren't available

beta testers and "sound designers" are the ones releasing tracks(bastards the lot of em) which suggests its beyond beta and into final release stages, i dont think we have anything to worry about, other than the wait of course ;)
