Even if this has been said already, but really: Folks on KVR. You just can't seem to manage pleasing them at all.
"Pure" synthesis demos of Omnisphere is what has been asked for. Now someone's coming up with a pure synthesis demo and again people are all over it, asking for something entirely different and what not.
I really don't get it.
Telling folks about the massive sample library amount Omnisphere is using isn't good enough. "Well, it's just another ROMpler."
Having several videos (on their site, on YouTube and elsewhere) about how you can tweak all these samples isn't good enough. "Well, that doesn't exactly show what it can do on it's own."
Promoting a demo song with really great sounds in it (regardless whether there's other synths that might be able to produce similar results) isn't good enough. "Well, we can already do that stuff."

All this is completely beyond me. Yes, certainly, I want the ultimate uber-synth myself as well. The super-mega-hyper workstation that does sampling and synthesis, loads every file format that ever existed, slices, dices, manipulates everything, etc.
But, has Omnisphere ever been marketed as anything like that?
No, it has been marketed as a fully fledged synth coming with a professionally designed sample library that you can use as source sound material.
Does it deliver just that? Yes, it clearly does.

Bashing a product like this with comments such as "Synth 1 could do the job as well" is just as stupid as it gets. I don't know what it is, probably jealousy because one can't afford it or whatever.
I can totally agree with statements such as "ok, I don't need it, I'm just a synthesizing guy and my needs are fulfilled already".
But to me it seems that, with Omnisphere (and most likely with their other products as well), Spectrasonics just delivered what they promised. One may not need it (just as I personally don't need, say, Stylus), but so far I can see *very* little reasons to bash it at all.

Now, if someone would complain about the GUI or general CPU useage - that's something which can probably be argued about (no idea, haven't touched the thing myself yet). But bashing each and every demo you can hear is just, uhm, lame. This very demo sounds professional by almost all standards one might have in mind. It's not after your taste - so what?
I don't think that Eric posted this demo with some "now everybody has to buy Omnisphere" thoughts in mind.
And right, nobody *has* to buy Omnisphere.

But you can buy it. And that's what I will do during next week, simply because to me it seems to be one of the things I could have immense fun with.

make the most of it, with comments like yours your visit will be short lived on KVR.

there is nothing wrong with having valid opinions and giving useful info, but so far yours have been about as helpful as a fart in a spacesuit.

Sascha, I think your last comment sums up what so many of us were thinking quite well. Nobody has to buy Omnisphere, and they don't have to buy it now either. There are an awful lot of people that wanted a copy before any official demo songs were up and at the same time there have been quite a few people that have taken time away from their other music making just to post tracks to try and help give people a sense of what the synth can do.

Everybody has a right to take the time and do the research they need to make the best decision they can about how they spend their money. If a company provides you with what you want then it may make more sense to buy from them, but they don't owe you a demo: it just makes sense when it is of mutual benefit. Keyword here is mutual.

Some companies do things that antagonize loyal customers (such as Tascam with the GigaStudio line) and some companies do things that reward them (e.g. Spectrasonics, Propellerhead, Garritan, etc.) and I think that both the developers and the users have made every effort to be helpful in this case. If that's not enough to make your decision on, then rest assured that their will be more coming. None of us has time to spend every hour on KVR though.

the act of bitching is a purpose of it's own here and doesn't need an actual subject per se. So once the bitching starts you can quite easily ignore any 'factual' content and just enjoy the popcorn

I'm still waiting for my UPS tracking number concerning the upgrade from Atmosphere to Omnisphere.
I wrote to him in another thread but he didn't reply. I sent an email to Spectrasonics and they don't answer back.

Anyhow, awesome demo by Tobias. Sounds very good to me. I was also wondering about the obvious side-chain compression. This is most likely in the mixing stage (not omnisphere) or am I wrong?
