The Plugin Merger!

Thanks for this "accident" Christian.
This little merger example combined with all the new example code gives so much new input on the concept of integrating one or more DLLs plus its skin-file into a mGUI-plugin, that I am going to have difficulty deciding to go with my original idea of using a ZIP-container, or use a DLL's resource for saving all this information
I think that's what is called a luxury problem

Where does it actually explain what to do? - the post is a bit wordy but not very explicit and I can't make sense of it.jonnyG wrote:Sorry to butt in, but this Bidule thread explains how to go about hacking a VST unique i.d. with a hex editor. It's not hard, but depending on the host it may break project files that already contain the offending plugin.aMUSEd wrote:Could I use this to change a single VST's ID? (to deal with some clashes)

Thanks! I just d/l'ed it. No matter how well it ends up working, this sounds like one of the most creative, anarchic things I've seen here in a long time.
Good thing you didn't make this post on an April 1.

Dunno why, but I'm running under the impression.. that's just a joke!Christian Budde wrote:Hello,
tonight I (accidentially) created a tool that allows merging two (or more) plugins to one.
If not, well.. i'm happy to be wrong!

I have another larger project going on, which is even more exciting than this, although a completely different topic. But we'll see. At least there will be a bug fix version soon...swampmonster50 wrote:great tool...i hope u change ur mind about developing it further.....
One problem for the image import is, that the dials do not support transparency yet. Right now this is only a demonstration for my open source project and I can't open source my GUI elements that allow transparency at the moment. For more GUI stuff I suggest you take a look at asseca's mGUI.swampmonster50 wrote:if u do id like to see....image import for the gui, preset managment.... and being able to hide/rename controls
Preset management is a very tough one, just think about this by yourself. How two handle the presets of two merged plugins. If I would create any possible combination of two plugins for example, the mumber of presets would explode. And how should I call them?
Also hiding/renaming controls would mean a lot of work on the control layer (which currently has only a simple structure).
Well, I just worked on that one, but I think it's out of my hands (partly depends on windows)coma977 wrote:the "new plugin created" gui opens first on the upper left corner and just then on where plugin was , its still a fast process , im just telling..

Great tool!!!! thanks.. the saved vsts work ok in renoise / psycle if instanced directly on those hosts, but it crashes energyxt VSTi v1.41 if hosted in renoise or psycle.
also..if i close and reopen the skinned gui the knob's values will disappear.
this is an amazing tool to skin some guiless pearls like vanilla compressor or aries verb...which i could never use before since energyxt v1 support for guiless plugs is terrible.
a question. if the the skinned dll vst ID is set the same as the original plugin will the skinned version be able to load vst presets (fxp) saved with the original guiless plug ?
this thing has so many uses, it even adds preset banks to plugs which can only have one preset. what about plugins which have buggy guis will it also prevent them from crashing in some hosts ?
if you ever plan on adding features, my sugestion:
-to be able to select which knobs to show (which vst parameters to show)
i even love the guis this thing creates. i dont think theyre ugly at all. just great.
ultra thanks for this.

I merged CLAS exciter with 4l limiter, pretty cool. I got an Odo synth pumping!
