Beautiful track, too, although I'm unfamiliar with what Leighton's contribution is… I've just heard the version on the album of the same name.

A piece on National Public Radio's "Weekend All Things Considered" involving NI Reaktor and Internet collaboration.

For its latest record, Snowflake Midnight, Mercury Rev got production help from thousands of strangers. Mercury Rev, in a way, outsourced the mixing of its new album to people on the Internet.

The one unfortunate item is that they make it sound as if Reaktor were open source -- they're using ensembles from the Reaktor user library, which are available free, but that's not clear from:

Because of the open-source nature of the software — much like Mozilla's Firefox Web browser, for which people create their own additions and plugins — the band felt encouraged to experiment with the creations of others.

Otherwise it's a fairly good listen.
