We just got one of these modern miracles of design, and I'm keen to test to see if it will go through our firewall. If there's anyone out there with an iSight and iChatAV please get in touch so we can test this out

I couldn't inflict THAT upon the world. It was once said I had a good face for radio 
The idea was to video-conference with collaborators, clients etc. to save on international phonecalls (and make it a bit more interactive). It also occurred that we could use it to do product demonstration videos and other such fun things.
Besides, from a techie/gadget-freak point of view the iSight contains quite a lot of optics and image processing firmware for such a small and cheap device - it's pretty impressive...and the drivers are allegedly "open" so maybe the scope for new applications based on such a unit is wider than people might first imagine. Gesture-based or performance-based MIDI control anyone?
