sometimes you just need some bumps in your life.

limited bw atm... can't listen yet.

Could you tell your (non)listening audience a little about what yu used to create this?

cheers for the bump DD :tu:

Never know what to say about some tracks.. it's just a tune.. so sounds like a good suggestion to me, a kitlist !

Actually this was done to test out some new synths I bought recently, and also because I'm having a hard time learning mixing technique.. so thought I'd do a bunch of shorter simpler tracks (less likely to get in a mess).

Synths are Absynth, FM8 and Albino... and drums are just 808 samples (but with quite a bit of time spent to get a mix feel I wanted).

There, I did have something to say about it :)

well, eventually I'll get a decent connection. But for the next few days I'm subject to whatever I can (ahem) find via wifi.

I put off purchasing equipment I need to get a better connection til today.

The mix is alright. Its a nice track. A little weak on bass for a track like this? I'm expecting a sine wave sub... I think you have some great filter sweeps and little running sequences, but I also think the drums are a little upfront.

Maybe a gentle comp on the drums sub? Tad bit more verb?

LOL...

That is my standard answer for everything... j/k

I give you two thumbs up for overall volume. I've heard two tracks today, that were so loud and digitally clipped. So let me just say, "You are working on mix technique?"

I think you are absolutely on the right track. Descent volume, no post production digital clipping! Excellent Job Mate.

Your composing skills are very good as well. I'd love to hear some more complex work of yours when you are ready.

Guess what..

I know you have had this posted here, since yesterday afternoon. Since then, and me making this post.. I've listened to the track 4 times!

Kinda a delay on my post, but I've just been mulling over the piece.

I like it!

Good job mate

:-)

Cheers

Thanks for the comment ckatrun411, comes at a good time for me..

Mixing is hard, it's so subtle.. I read recently someone said getting a pro sound happens when a lot of skills come together, eq, compression, balance, fx etc... and being very good at any single skill is not enough. Unfortunately it's pretty integral to the music for the stuff I like.

Glad the volume is ok, finding my own compromise between the smooth gluey feel I want and the loudness war I don't

I'm happy I'm learning something / improving.. but I tend to only see the flaws, and the distance away from where I wanted to get (Normal headjob you get in this game) :dog:

Anyway, thanks for the boost.. much appreciated :tu:

yea i like this too. it has a nice character and I like the beat, it sounds a bit retroish with a hint of Spotless Mind soundtrack. mix sounds fine, it is actually dynamic!
