For a brief moment, Sweetwater had the arrival date as the week of September 25th, but then they went back and changed that. I sent a "WTF" message their way and somebody called and said it would be in by about the end of October -- now their website says the week of 10/19. I generally don't trust anything Sweetwater says but maybe that's a somewhat good sign.
Then again, I think I remember the same thing happening with VSM and IK Multimedia's Sampletron.
As far as I know, I remember hearing about the Oberheim product...If you read the "Diary" portion of the GForce site (under the "Extras" section), there's a few entries here and there about "a box that arrived today" and something upcoming, blah blah blah, but that could be anything at this point.
I find it funny that GForce's site had VSM all over it MONTHS before it ever came out, but next to no mention of M-Tron Pro anywhere on the site (barely a vague reference in the "News" section).

Dammit, when is this friggin' thing coming out already? :x

Where did that originate? I've done web searches and all I see is people on forums saying "I'm waiting for the Gforce S.O.B." But nothing that appears to substantiate that it was ever a real project of theirs.
I forget the details exactly, but there was a video of a presentation at a convention where they were unveiling some new product (I think it was VSM) and while the presenter is fiddling around on the desktop, a screenshot of an Oberheim emulation called SOB "accidently" flashes across the screen for a few seconds. This was quite some time ago, and Gmedia has been silent about it ever since. So, some of us are thinking it was just a hoax all along. Who knows, maybe it was abandoned? Rumors have been bounced around, but the only real evidence is that old video.

Just thought I'd chime in here with a little information.

Dave had a thousand M-tron pros delivered to his place two weeks ago (people who listen to the Sonic State podcast might have noted this), so it exists in a final version.

Unfortunately there's a logistical problem with the coordinated international release due to them being unexpectedly short handed, it's only a very small team and Murphy's law has struck.

Oh, and Chris wanted me to mention that there will be an upgrade path for all existing users... but please don't ask me what it is, since I don't know!

Just email them and they'll give you the details of the upgrade.

.. and it's going to be sooooo lovely ..

I think they're a rip off anyway...I never even start hoping for new GMedia stuff until I see it on audiomidi.com 'cause it doesn't show up there until they have the product...or of course someone with inside info chimes in here. Upgrade paths are GOOD! :tu:

I got a reply regarding an upgrade path from MTron to MTron Pro from Chris Macleod at Gforce:

"The upgrade will be available to all existing M-Tron owners for €59 (about
$79) and only through our site."

This is exciting news but isn't it odd that there is no mention of the M-Tron Pro on their website yet? I mean if its really that close to being released you would think that they'd be getting people excited about it right?

If I told you that a key person was temporarily unavailable for personal reasons, maybe you could guess one of the things he's responsible for...
