I've added plenty. I've set the record straight and made some valid points - namely that analog synths remained in production, in use and very much in demand throughout the late 80's and onwards. Petty? Maybe, but, as you seem unable to refute my arguments and are now resorting to insults, I rather think that it's you that's the loser mate.BONES wrote: You can argue semantics until you're blue in the face but it shows you to be a petty, little loser with no real opinion to add to the discussion.
Does any other VST sound as good as Sylenth?

You should write an auto reply, bot, BONES. Something like:BONES wrote:You can argue semantics until you're blue in the face but it shows you to be a petty, little loser with no real opinion to add to the discussion.hakey wrote:Now Bones you said digital "completely and utterly" replaced analog. In my book that means absolutely without exception!
BTW, you need to be more careful with your quoting, it makes things easier to follow. Its hard to know if you're getting stuck into me or someone who I though was basically agreeing with you.
IF question = difficult
THEN exit
ELSE
reply ("you stupid, pathetic little loser, stop embarrasing yourself, you idiot, you don't know what you're talking about ")
Will save you a lot of time buddy

knowing only the real basics of synthesis myself, i did not realize how much of a touchy subject it is to some (naive on my part for sure). Yet its the same for guitar and which amps and even which damned pedal(s) are *best* for a particular job except some tend to pick their tube screamers up and use them to smash someone's face in or glass someone with a 6L6. My lowest moment came when i used an old Jackson due to it's headstock as a sort of lance on some poor f**k who kicked off on the wrong guy. The headstock was very similar to this:

Joking aside:
Sylenth1 is not the best sounding VSTi around and same goes for every other VSTi/VST synth/sampler/effect 'native' plug-in as luckily their are many to choose from or create your own (aciddose & bones style...etc) to do the job.
That sounds good to me

The pad, about 3/4 of the way through, that evolves into a low 'oohing' moan and back again is particularly lovely.vicious_angel wrote:Hear This . Especially the keys and pads in there are just pure "electricity"

You guys must be really bored. Yeah, Sylenth sounds great, but so does Genesis CM & a couple of other synths.

Yeah, as Nekro said, there's a huge choice of pretty damn good vst's with not much between them in terms of out and out sound quality. A lot of people seem to genuinely like the sound of Sylenth, but, tell the truth, it doesn't really do that much that half dozen or so other vsts can't do about as well. It's been said before, but what it has got going for it is some very well designed presets that make the most out of what is a fairly limited synth architecture and I can't help but feel that it is the quality of the presets that some people respond favourably to, rather than the intrinsic qualities of Sylenth's sound.osiris wrote:You guys must be really bored. And that's not a critism by the way - I like Sylenth, and a whole load of other vsts. I'm sure a couple of revisions down the line Sylenth really will be something to contend with.
And to get back to the OP - it's already been said, but Zebra can do pretty much everything that Sylenth can and then some (FM, wavetable scanning (sort of) oscillators, draw your own waveforms, comb filter (and many other flter types), oscillator effects, a modular architecture etc. and it is also supported by a couple of very talented preset designers). So my vote goes for Zebra.

Ok, I was intrigued over the hype over this synth, I downloaded the demo and to be honest. Nah, it ain't that great. There are many synths on the market that can beat Sylenth.

Yeah, some of that stuff sounds great but if you compare it to what else is out there for that money, its only average, at best. If you compare it to the flexibility of Zebra, for example, it would be hard to justify putting your money on Sylenth1. Even z3ta+ sounds every bit as good, is more flexible and quite a bit cheaper into the bargain. Its almost as if people are forgetting what $200 can buy you these days.vicious_angel wrote:Hear This . Sylenth1 costed me 165.41 euros with VAT. It came with 1200+ presets.
Zebra2 is gonna cost me 193.22 including VAT. And it comes with 250 presets.
Its 30 euro difference.
Edit: (Err Massive or Zebra for my next buy? Cant decide)

One last question then, my dear friend BONES, if Sylenth1 is really that limited in functionality and sounding so average at best, then how is it possible that all professional magazines are raving about it and giving it 9's and 10's ? http://www.lennardigital.com/modules/sy ... onials.php Are they all missing something ?BONES wrote:Yeah, some of that stuff sounds great but if you compare it to what else is out there for that money, its only average, at best.
