Hi,
Thanks Dave for replying to my post. Would you know how I would go about attempting to loop the tape banks in the original MTron?
I'm assuming the following things:
1) The MTron application doesn't care and will play back an edited tape bank
2) The tape banks are editable and software is available that can open the tape bank file.
Unfortunately I'm still rather new to this stuff....
Also, in your personal opinion, is the MTron Pro worth the upgrade?

Contrary to your experience, I've delt with them for 4 years without any issues at all. They did send an upgrade version of Komplete to me once, but I called them and got the correct version mailed to me before I'd even packaged up the incorrect one. They've treated me nothing but fairly and with great customer service.ehdyn wrote:Audiomidi are a bunch of pricks.

They gave me a refund on software that I had unwrapped and installed on my computer, then to reward my loyalty they gave me an extra discount on top of their sale price when I bought Guitar Rig a few months later. And i didn't have to remind them about the discount, they did it automatically.

Yep. There were more details earlier in the thread. Apparently some of the tapes have been remastered at Abbey Road.dbag wrote:does m-tron pro include all of the original tapes from the original m-tron plus the 3 additional tape banks? thanks, can't wait for this.

You can't, the original MTron doesn't support looping, rather like an original Mellotron.citizenzero wrote:Hi,

For looping you'll need to use the MTron Pro, and the loops are already set (a long and difficult job which drove Dave Spiers to near insanity).

They weren't programmed. Those are real musicians in a studio playing a rhythm. Some real enthusiast or maybe Streetly might have the history of which banks were recorded where and by whom, but it's probably largely lost in the mists of time.dbag wrote:awesome can't wait. as long as i'm on the subject, what's the story with the rhythm patches in the original m-tron they sound so absolutely amazing. who programmed/produced them and what is their origins? sorry to go off topic but i always wanted to know this.

What Jon said
Most definately, its for all intents and purposes a new instrument with some backward compatible M-tron stuff thrown in for free, thats the way i approached it when patching for it.citizenzero wrote: Also, in your personal opinion, is the MTron Pro worth the upgrade?

The rhythm & fills are from the left-hand keyboard on the MkI/MkII models. The sound effects are from the BBC SFX model.dbag wrote:awesome can't wait. as long as i'm on the subject, what's the story with the rhythm patches in the original m-tron they sound so absolutely amazing. who programmed/produced them and what is their origins? sorry to go off topic but i always wanted to know this.
I vaguely remember reading about the actual recordings in "Mellotron: The Machine and the Musicians That Revolutionised Rock" by Nick Awde; highly recommended along with "The Mellotron Book" by Frank Samagaio, which is more technically oriented.

very cool, mellotron makes my heart warm
just to confirm, it sounds like the pro just has "some" old stuff from the original m-tron. my question is does it have "all" of the original m-tron stuff so it's a complete replacement? I would assume it is but just checking, thanks.
