Kriminal: if you can't access http://xhip.cjb.net/xhip/releases there is probably a dns issue on your side.
http://70.66.176.237/xhip/releases

if that still doesn't work there is a routing issue on your side.

none of this stuff is really "the latest stable version" though, the latest stable version still had the old gui. i'll make a release for the next stable version in some time, i'm not sure when. there are quite a few issues to sort out.

there are really a lot of issues i'm working on at any one time, the website needs code updated, some translation from perl scripts to c source and binaries.. restructuring of a few things. the synth code needs to have the byte->float program data translation completed and the new patch format needs to be finished. a couple bugs need to be worked out and i need to do stress testing / corner cases to make sure the release is clean before i make it. i'm working on branis' gui, the background needs to be fully rendered. the sc_knobs need to be updated to look the way (or to be flexible enough to be adjusted to look the way) branis had intended. i need to populate the whole gui code after that and finish it up, then go through the same process to make sure branis can compile and edit his sources to maintain the gui.

...and this, just a hobby?

need to be touring some studios, repairing some gear, talking to producers and all kinds of other shit that isn't xhip related. then i need to be building more ADS-X1 units and perhaps registering my company "ADS Electronic" or "Audio" or whatever, so thinking of a name for it still... blah blah.

anyway sorry if the new stuff happening teases anybody, but you have to remember these are just little bits that are getting done and the fully polished package generally isn't there unless i specifically announce it to be so.

DuX; yeah, i get the same impression when using xhip sometimes and i notice it the most when i use other software and say "how much do they sell THIS for???".

Soooooo true! I get the same feeling.

BTW... I tried all three limeflavour's skin variations. They are ok. I'm satisfied just with them. Noticed something strange: open the control section, look at the "parameter filter" and "unison ramps" sliders: they appear to be linked together someway.
Try to move "parameter filter", and "unison ramps" will move too (not the inverse tho).
I also checked that the GUI has all the VST parameters that the host sees, so it's complete.

:D

You almost got me!

Ahem I'm jumping in again, what would be the best version of XHip for me to download, considering I'd like a reasonably user-friendly interface and a reasonably stable version (so i can actually do some stuff wiv it)?

I had a look at AD's website which I found a little confusing, and I haven't read the all 125 pages of this thread...

Post

the website is pretty simple, the releases section tells you to get this version:

http://xhip.cjb.net/xhip/releases/
if you havent followed the kvr thread, you should probably get the latest stable version:
recommended version 0.6.16.4
http://xhip.cjb.net/xhip/releases/0/6/1 ... 6.16.4.zip

the default gui works fine, you can download limeflavour2 as linked if you prefer that one instead.

the ramps and param filter sliders are indeed linked because there is no simple way to implement the ramps one. it'll get done later, the limeflavour2 gui is still not officially released. you should also notice that the left/right arrows are not implemented for the +/- patch buttons, and the color of some things doesn't work perfectly. i'll get to that later, let's just let limeflavour get a hold of the code and fix anything with the layout that he finds to be broken.

http://xhip.cjb.net/temp/public/orgone.mp3
(the bell is made from taking the "verb" patch and using 100% keytrack and 98% res on the waveshaper filter for the 'clink', also using filter trigger on the main filter.) (the organ sound is "st. somethings something" with lfo.a to pulsewidth and lfo.b to cutoff with speeds adjusted for the leslie effect.)

as i've said before, i'll certainly set up a method for people to make "donations" once xhip 1.0 is released. i'll actually sell it, rather sell a space on the xhip page: "proud owners and supporters of xhip:". the software you get will of course be exactly the same as the free version and likely it will be a donation, not a sale (you'll decide how much to donate) but that's in the future.

now if only i would stop adding so much bass eq to my kick and saturating everything in the limiter orgone.mp3 might sound good.
:hihi:

I love it the way it is ;)

ps, i'm using the WIP version (for that dyslexic vip feeling) :hihi:

How about the free version not storing prestets?

Post

that would be silly, xhip will always be free. i would write a completely new xhip 2.0, probably rename it if i wanted to go commercial.

Me too :)) WIP version looks good in EXT. AD, maybe you should always release a GUI-less version for us minimalistic maniacs if that's not too complicated for you. (no sarcasm involved, I mean it)
