I have the IR1A and its a no fills convolution plugin that sounds good and is easy on the CPU

Do you know how much IRs are included in Origami? I bought it 2 days ago and it's really not too obvious as there are quite some reverb presets but it's not clear from how many IRs these are derived. Reading the manual didn't help either.

Not too many though, but the once there are really useful I find.

Looks like a free one. Haven't tried it yet (I'm happy with Space Designer).
I also think there's something for SonicBirth (kinda like a SynthEdit for OSX).

it was actually a serious question as the preset and IR management of Origami is a bit confusing....

Hoops, it just seemed to be too much according to my impression. I'll check with the developers as they are located in Germany (close to where I live).

I'm curious as well how the positioning tool behaves. I haven't had the time to play with it so far. I'm not sure how it works anyway when using just true stereo IRs instead of Surround IRs.

Ok, I just tried this. Unlike the free SIR version, this seems to be free of latency (just loaded some speaker responses). A bit tricky to handle, but hey.
For a reverb, you may want to use it on a bus and add whatever other plugins to shape it a bit more (EQs, compressors and probably envelopers, but also delays and the likes), as it doesn't offer anything but "raw" impulse loading. It's doing quite fine, though, as it seems.

Now that I've tried to fiddle around with Origami for a few days I'm not certain if I shouldn't have gone the SIR 2 way.
The interface is ambitioned but not very clear (the font type they used is fancy bot hard to read). The EQ is there, you can type in frequencies, Q-values and dB-values to increase or decrease freqiency bands but there is no optical control which makes it a bit difficult to use.

I tried to import true stereo IRs (2 IRs with each one including a stereo impulse) but it's just not obvious how to do it. The people from email support are nice but not very fast responding(in contrast to chr. Knufinke the SIR2 developer). Additionally it's hard to guess which IRs are genuine and which are variations of each other. Maybe abetter documantation clarifies it.

No complaints on the sound side though (which is the most important factor). It's just the handling and documantation which needs some polishing i.m.o

There's also the pluggo based Tconvolution http://www.zippernoise.net/data/. Like all pluggo based bits, it can be a bit flaky at times, which is a pluggo issue.

The SonicBirth verb was modded by me and is available here: http://www.savefile.com/files/589894 It basically adds a fine wet control, since the SonicBirth original had the tendency to blow you out of the room and into the hallway. You will need to download the SonicBirth framework http://sonicbirth.sourceforge.net/download.shtml. You may also need to open the project file (ConvolutionStereoMod.sbc) and re-export if the included au and vst exports don't work for your system.
