NewBie Question here: Just wondering what the BEST way to read SampleMoog, Sampletron, Sonik Synth and any of the other SampleTank powered programs using SAMPLE TANK 2.5 XL as a Main Interface.
Is it best to LOAD all of these Programs' Instruments, Presets and Such INTO the Sample Tank Folders or just Point SampleTank at those other programs when desired. I was thinking it would be great to have ALL of these Libraries and Combi Presets ALWAYS available in the ST 2.5 Library Window.
Can THIS be Successfully done this way? :?:

Post

Yes, definitely load them all in the same parent folder and point ST2 to that parent folder.

The ST2 Instruments folder is set globally, so it's best not to have to change it for different projects.

Also keep in mind that with that many instruments the startup time will be longer, so you might want to consider leaving out any subfolders that you don't use.

I appreciate the SampleTank Info. Would you also suggest loading ALL of the Preset/Combi's into the SampleTank Preset folder as well? This is a LOT of stuff when you combine it all. IS this the way Most Users Configure SampleTank when they have the other IK Associated Programs?

You'll have to copy/move the SMoog, STron, SS2 combis into the ST2.5 combis folder if you want to open them in ST2.5. If you move them then the other products won't see them though.

It might be better to try out, say, the SMoog combis in SMoog, then copy only those you want to change into a SMoog folder within the ST2.5 combis folder, then rename them.

As for the Sounds Libraries, have a look at this thread:

Great Info - Thanks to you GUYS who answered and Thanks for that link too. I am experimenting now with Making SampleTank my Main Access Program for all of them. If anyone out there has much Sonik Synth experience - i would like to ask a question. I may still Occasionally Use Sonik Synth 2 as a Stand-Alone and Wanted to know why it Doesn't or IF it can have a Master COMBI RESET Feature - all of the other SReality Software that i have also has the COMBI RESET feature, and it is Very Handy - wondering why SONIK SYNTH does NOT have this. i Tested with a Copy and Paste of a RESET Button from the SampleMoog and SampleTron Preset Folders into the Sonik Synth Preset Folder but it does not CLEAR the Parameters ...any clues WHY SS does NOT have it and IF it can? THANKS!

Post

I thought that it did have one.

Just load Sonik Synth, don't load any parts at all.

Save that as a combi, name it Reset or similar.

THANKS Dark - Your idea WORKED GREAT - now have a RESET Feature in SS, so Thanks for the TIP.
Also having a problem with a SSYNTH Sample, anyone else using LOGIC 8 and Sonik Synth 2 ?
My Issue is, i can NOT get the #009 LEGACY Grand Piano Sample to work. It works FINE in the Sonik Synth STAND ALONE mode - but NOT in Plug-In Mode within LOGIC 8. When i Load the #009 Legacy Grand or any of its Child presets - OR any Combi that also Uses the Legacy Grand Sample - the notes will not function - the note scale is off, the notes are not firing correctly. IF i play the MINI-Keyboard in the SSYNTH Interface Window, the notes ALL play fine in the Legacy Grand - but when i play my USB Axiom keyboard - it does NOT play properly. ALL of the other Sonik Synth Samples are FINE using my Axiom. Anyone else have this happen or have a suggestion or work around idea? ...this is a GREAT Forum for Help!

I just bought SS2 and have exactly the same problem with the Legacy Grand. Doesn't matter what note you play - every note in each zone has the same pitch. Squidz????

This is a very old thread, FYI, and the best way to get support for this IK product would be to use the support form via your User Area on our site. Thanks!

Hey guys,

I have this happening with a couple of my Sonik Synth piano patches. They play the same pitch over many notes, and they weren't always behaving this way. Something must have happened to cause this weird behavior in those instruments.

Did you get support from IK in dealing with this? What did they suggest?
Somewhere in the background zedd

I had the problem and posted initially. I found the problem in 2 or 3 of the Piano Patches, sadly, IK Support was not able to help as they could NOT replicate the issues. I also discovered that the problem was NOT happening when i used Sonic Synth in STAND ALONE mode, only when i lanched it through my Logic software, then i had these issues.
Here is more info - i changed to a Motif Keyboard and now they all work fine. i can not really venture any serious guesses as i am a newbie, but i suspect there is something about the mapping of a few of the Samples, and i do not know why the Motif works fine with them and 2 other Keyboards i had did NOT. It seems that something gets changed when Launched through a DAW, and a few of the SSynth samples are NOT the same as all the rest.
