Oh yes, much more my thing. Great. Simply great. Who did that?

The guitar player from a Swedish band.....
NO... not ABBA

The band is called Clawfinger:
Hehe, while ABBA is was a really cool band so much more good music came and comes from sweden.
I like the guitar approach of the Clawfinger guys. Great music, too.
AndrewSimon wrote:The Blues clip was done by Paco.
Paco is a studio engineer who plays the guitar just for fun.
I love his style.

Yes, yes, yes! Just for fun you say? :-o :x 8)

P.S. Thanx for the links!
Shogger the guys from Clawfinger are very amusing man, even though they are not really my sort of metal (they are more punkish/crossed over with a bit of Rap or Hip-Hop) their stuff is witty, dead blunt/dry sense of humour and really well written. Their best stuff IMO can be heard on these records if you want to check them out out further: Self-Titled (2003), 'Use Your Brain' (1995) and if i had to pick one record by them it would be 'Hate Yourself With Style' (2005) - hope that helps friend

AndrewSimon cheers for all the clips and stuff man concerning the AXE-FX :tu:

I am no expert by any means when it comes to the nuance of electric guitar sounds, but of the bunch of clips I have listened to, I would say this is the best amp sim I have heard. Usually with amp sims, a couple of clips and it sounds like a sim... This sounds consistently good so I forget it is a sim...

Yeah, Paco (whom I "know" from the german Logicuser forum) is usually doing fine. Regarding Axe-FX, I was particularly impressed by this clip of him, which demonstrates how well the thing interacts with your playing:

I'll be moving houses next march, including a little rearranging of my humble home studio, and it shouldn't take too long that I'm getting me one of these suckers after that. Seriously, so many of the Axe-FX clips sound just like what I want.
I'm not particularly unhappy with what I have right now, and once I moved, I will as well finish my dead box project,so I can mic up my amps at home, but still, Axe-FX, as far as I can tell, can't be beaten in terms of sound and flexibility, which should make it the perfect workhorse for my purposes. Sure, re-amping will become a bit more of a hassle, but I usually don't need that too often anyways.

Thanx Dean,

will check out this stuff. This crossover rap stuff is not my typical listen but it's fresh every now and then to me. So definitely appreciated. Take care my friend. :)

As much as I hate the price tag but sound like this one makes me want some.
Sad that there's no amp sim plugin yet that can do it all just right. :?

Just a heads up!

It looks like we will have a DEMO out of the new AXE-PC by the end of this week.
AXE-PC is the VST version of the AXE-FX.

more info at:

Buckle up kids, you're in for a wild ride.

 :)

VST only runs with AXE-FX hardware AND calls home at intervals to verify??
That's gonna tick off a lot of people...

Correct.
Does it get any more stupid than that ?
-- phoning home - I don't know a single serious home studio person who has the DAW connected to the internet - most use a notebook or an old computer for that, some have a multi-boot system with hidden partitions, but why on earth should you have antivirus / firewall / web utilities running on a DAW ?
This alone will rule out most semi- / pro users.
-- bundled hardware, again a no-go for a majority of people (not even talking about the higher price atm).
People who did detailed research to buy the best hardware they can afford will not be likely to accept additional "forced" hardware.
Folks with budget interfaces will rather put the extra money towards a better main interface, folks with RME /Lynx / Apogee class hardware will not accept a useless piece of hardware hanging from the USB port, let alone the extra driver needed for that pseudo-audio-dongle.
Add the big number of folks who wouldn't touch a dongle at all ...
---------------------------
On a more constructive note, why that BS when there are two almost perfect methods of copy protection readily available, none having been cracked for years ?
-- Syncrosoft dongle, still the best dongle solution around, many people already have one, it's cheap, completely secure and doesn't mess with a correctly configured system
-- UAD-2 card. A perfect win-win team if you ask me.
UA has a fantastic track record, is completely safe and has license deals with companies like Neve, Harrison, SPL, Roland ...
When UA dropped Nigel for the UAD-2 a cooperation with Fractal or Softube or the like was looking very promising
-- and then there is always the option of facturing in the costs of possible piracy into the price and use (non-Pace) C/R . Not my favourite solution, but acceptable. NI, IK and many others get along fine that way.
Personally the final price and amount of features (sell the amps individually if needed) are not my biggest concern, an audio dongle and forced online connection are dealbreakers.
-------------------
Controversial stuff, all imho and I don't want to step on anybody's kvr toes here since ymmv for sure, but there are a few topics that scream for a decidedly contra statement.

Oh well,

Yeah, seems like a second no-go for this (after the prohibitive price).

What did I miss ?
Is there already a price for the software ?
Cheers,

No price yet but it's not going to be cheap.
If you are thinking Amplitube/Guitar Rig price range... forget it.
It will be higher.

Then again good things usually cost more....
