Not correct. You can actually automate all 28 parameters.. in one of my tests with Synplant I tried stressing it by automating every parameter at the same time - trying to provoke a crash.. but I failed miserably at that - but the resulting sound-sequence was pretty whackkuniklo wrote:No, but you can get a ton of movement out of the mod wheel and velocity.XGmode wrote: When manipulating the genes, can those controls be automated?
sonic charge synplant is out!

It definitely doesn't have the warmth of impOSCar or some Zebra patches. It sounds best when matched with some good post processing. The onboard effect is surprisingly flexible but it's not going to sound as polished as a bank of carefully tweaked effects in Zebra.putte wrote: it doesn't sound bad in itself at all to me, but at the same time i can't seem to hear that 'warm' and 'expensive sound i know from the synths i mostly make use of when i'm doing my jobs. (imposcar, omnisphere, zebra.)

Maybe it's an Ableton thing? They don't even show up in Live.metal wrote: Not correct. Maybe XGmode means automating the genes themselves, rather than the parameters they control? (Forgive me if I'm mis-remembering how this works, I don't have a working setup at the moment.)

The demo limit is insane! 3 whole weeks...if you have it loaded for 2 hours a day, you could use it for 9 months straight!
This shows a lot of confidence in the instrument's deepness...I'm sure if more plugins had such a demo model it could really hurt their sales because after the initial awe over the bells and whistles wears off, some people start looking beyond fancy guis and showoff presets.
And so far I think the confidence is justified...I've already finished a tune just using Synplant, and can just agree with the overall rave. It's mad fun.
I'll give this a good workout until Christmas and decide about the purchase then, but something tells me I've already made up my mind

New paradigms and ways of thinking out of the box are always fun. So far I am only hearing it and the sounds sound pretty good. Will check out the demo shortly. This sounds like it might be one of those "Atomic" kinds of purchases. A heck of a lot of fun and sounding good without draining the bank account. That's always a good thing!
Available on iTunes, Amazon, etc.

The 28 automatable parameters are the genes-parameters. The plants can be automated with the modwheel as kuniklo mentioned earlier.Meffy wrote:Maybe XGmode means automating the genes themselves, rather than the parameters they control? I just tried eggplant in a track and one word that springs to mind is sublime. Oh, another would be ethereal. Love it, the sound is alive.

This doesn't seem to be the case for me, trying the demo in Logic 7.metal wrote:The 28 automatable parameters are the genes-parameters. I also must say (echoing some of the other sentiments on here), that I haven't been this excited about a new synth in a long time!

Not quite. It doesn't count hours, it counts weeks, that is: You could use it for a week, have a break of any length, then use it another week, have another break and then use it a third week.nasenmann wrote:The demo limit is insane! 3 whole weeks...if you have it loaded for 2 hours a day, you could use it for 9 months straight!
