NYA~ PRICEY!
Gee and I expect more along the lines of 199Euro incl VAT and not 299Euro (incl. VAT). That's out of my pricerange, especially if there're no crossgrades (from competative products like AlienConnections does)/groupbuys/introductionary prices.
It's like Amplitube! And don't let me get started on "upgrades" if TH-1 will supper the same as IKM's "upgrade policy" (buy a new VST plugin if you want new amps! Line6 are really the masters in this section)
As good as this thing might be, I have to(!) pass and stick to the freeware plugins from SimulAnalog and GearBox/POD Farm after all.
Pity...

I'm not sure why that price is a shock to you. It was said that it would be around the Breverb price for one. But also, the competition is priced very similar. At this point in time, Amplitube2 is $399US/$299Euro and GR3 is $339US at this time(I believe that is dropped from original though).Compyfox wrote:NYA~ PRICEY!

So it's not really much different than the competition. I don't see what the problem is outside of the fact that you didn't want to pay that much for it.

Price/Offer deal.
For this price, I expect a bit more than just 15amps/cabins and some undocumted stomp boxes.
In comparision (plugin wise):
POD Farm Platinum (iLok) - 299USD(!), 78 Guitar Amps, 28 Bass amps, 24 Cabinets, over 90 Stomps
POD Farm Standard (iLok) - 99USD, 18 Guitar Amps, 5 Bass Amps, 24 Cabinets, 29Stomps
Amplitube Metal - 270USD, 5 Amps, 13 Cabinets, 14 Stomps
Granted, AT and TH-1 can use whatever mics they like in whatever combination they like (a thing that GearBox/POD Farm doesn't have), same with free routing (again, what POD Farm lacks). But you HAVE TO look at the competition in terms of price compared to what they offer. Not to mention the upgrade possibilities, where Line6 clearly scores (new model packs? no problem, no new VST Plugin for additional 300 needed!).
Call me a cheapstake - again - but one has to set priorities here. If I look at the competition, you can't deny that it's overpriced - no matter how good it is (what I don't disrespect). And you can't deny that Line6 doesn't sound good - if you know how to handle it.

Oh yeah... only 50bucks.
If the price is in Euro already, why isn't it with VAT inclusive already? I mean, they're in Italy. IKM is also in Italy and has prices include VAT.
Again, it's a matter of the price in contrast to what's offered. And for this, it's out of my budget - for a LONG TIME!
Unless there will be a GroupBuy deal someday. Which is highly unlikely.

hi guys,
just to put things in perspective, a korg AX 3000 G unit hardware floor unit
costs 199 euro, it's got spdif output for digital recording of the signal...
it's down to what you want, if you like the vst element and want the flexibility
to change the tone after it's recorded then this th1 might be interesting,
however I do agree with some people that this seems overpriced, even though
I still think the jcm emulation of the simulanalog suite remains the best
amp emulation I ever heard...

Yes , too pricy for an unproven product in an over crowded marketplace. If they are going for the money crowd they can afford it but for the hobbiest and dreamer, too much for too little.

Actually, how can YOU say it's overpriced without trying it? It's not about how many amps and cabs and stomps it has. It's how they sound. How do you know they won't be more documented? And what if they sound better than the competition? What about the workflow and extra features for live use? What about the routing system? Why aren't those considered in the price? And how do you know that expansions will work one way or another?Compyfox wrote:Price/Offer deal.

I'm not saying it IS worth the money or that it isn't. But you seem to have dismissed it based on numbers and not on quality or actually trying the plug yet. And numbers have very little to do with how it stacks up to the competition. Maybe at least wait to try it before making the full "it's overpriced" statement. At that point, it still may be overpriced for you if you already have enough guitar software. But there is no way you can know that yet.

I find it mildly amusing how so many people are an expert on whether a product is overpriced before they ever even try it. But this IS KVR, so I guess that comes with the territory.

1) IK doesn't sell online with VAT: in fact, if you go there and fill the basket with any product, it will tell you it's VAT excluded. VAT is added on checkout and depending on the country you live in and whether you buy boxed or download productsCompyfox wrote:Oh yeah... only 50bucks.

Unless there will be a GroupBuy deal someday. Which is highly unlikely.
2) reason we can't put VAT is because of the EU Law: for digital goods you can make pay your national VAT (in Italy, 20%), but for 'physical' goods you have to make pay the local VAT (Italy 20%, DE 19%...)
3) our license policy is rather different than IK and any other: we offer 3 intalls AND 1 iLok license. We love flexibility. Our power users asked for iLok and we gave them, our semi-pro users asked for software authorization, we gave it to them... both.
4) how can you judge a product without ever trying it?
5) those prices are list prices: street prices will be lower in the shops and through distributors of course... we sell online at list price... this is not a problem for you, since you can demo TH1 for 14 days it means that if you like it you can order it locally and get it before the demo expires... [EDIT] for the lower price avaialble
6) comparing TH1 (or AT2 or GR3) with Line6 stuff is really like comparing apples and pasta IMHO. Line6 technology is DSP based and the computer rendition is just a translation of that DSP thing into 'Intel' CPU language. Overloud's (and for what I know, NI's, IK's...) technology is a totally different beast, in fact, it could never fit into the kind of DSPs Line6 uses
7) judging a plugin product by the number of amps and fx is just like judging:
- a car by the size of its wheels
- a real amp by the number of channels or the number of tubes
- a musician by how he can play fast
....
By making such judgements you basically telling the industry:
I love to be fooled into thinking that you're giving me so many amps when I actually need just 5...
This kind of thoughts are the ones making 'smart' marketing guys put unconnected valves (or tubes) in some pieces of hardware... they light them with LEDs...
8 ) thanks for the one of you trying to teach us how to market our products... and it's funny... you might be right... but how do you know when you don't own and test the product? What do you know about our price policy with distrbutors?
Next time we'll make a poll here to ask what the right price for our products. Guess how much you'll value it in the poll?

simone,
Instead of taking an emotional stand, you should learn as a marketing guy, that customers and prospective customers who are sharing their views about your product are immensly valuable...
also some of your arguments are really lame...if your product is as good as you claim...do you seriously think that even if line6 amp farm does a translation from dsp to intel people will give a damn ?
they want a great sounding product, that's all.
my personal view is that th1 will probably be great, but too pricey for most,
as someone said there are too many hardware + software alternatives already.
i sincerely hope you will prove me wrong.
