There is a gate. Click on the "Open" tab above the tuner at the top.

Next question should be:
Q: that gate setting is global. Can't I save it with my presets?

A: map the Gate parameter to a Smart and set it (drag and drop the 'tuner' section to a Smart), save the Variation. There you go.

A2: Next .x revision will have a gate stomp box / rack with extended parameters and per-Variation saving capabilities.

Not really.
With VST methods, there's a minimum of different ways to resize a UI, at least on the PC. We did a few workarounds for this fuzzy behaviour as it's quite common (as usual with VST, as one is left alone with unclear specs).
If you want, I can look that up and serve with a code snippet ;)

Ok Sascha, I wasn't using the right wording... but, we'll look into it.

We don't have any tester on Samplitude AFAIK now.

But I might be wrong... I am still a Mac guy...

Well, between the interface and the low cpu AND considering the sounds are good so far, it's hard not to think about it.

I guess if someone wanted my at2/jhe's (no pace) (which I'd have to practically give away cause of the 50 buck transfer fee) I'd think about it seriously.

Anyways, I'm having fun demoing it :)

Post

here's my subjective impression as a guitarist and sound engineer.

after 2 hours checking the demo i must say, for me (!) this is the best softwareamp on the market. i don't need highgainamps so no opinion on this, but the clean amps-crunch amp sounds are very good and realsounding, the fit well in the mixes (right, as mentioned there are not too much lowend in them but these will be cutoff in mixes anyway). i love the vox (first good softwarecopy) and the bassman. the rat, p90 and the tubescreamer are well copied, very nice. and the best thing - cpu usage is soooo damn low, it's unbelievable that it sounds that good. this is a hit in the face of ik multimedia and native instrumens (go get some better coders)

the userinterface is practical and cab microphone handling is VERY well done, but overall it looks too "wannebe eye candy" for my taste as the effects & amps style is a bit cheap plastic (sorry).
but in the end i don't give too much on the "look" when the sound is good

perfect job, well done
i need a lunch break

Ok, I just installed the demo. Haven't even plugged my axe in yet, but I need to say that the iLok install not being mentioned is a bad thing in the installer. Also, there's no uninstaller provided for OSX, which will more or less automatically leave most people with all those iLok things left over once they remove the plugin.
This isn't too great, to be honest. There should be something about possibly removing the iLok extensions from your system, shouldn't you need them anymore.

Anyways, on to some tests.

I may be wrong, but I believe the iLok installer is a different installer. If you install the driver from the iLok website it would have the same effect I believe. So wouldn't it be up to the iLok installer to put in an uninstaller?

Maybe I'm wrong though? Does anyone know? It doesn't affect me since I have plugs that I use with iLok, but others may want to know.

Well, under OSX, once you start the TH1 installer, iLok extensions will be installed automatically.
And as said, there's no uninstaller.

I'm just wondering if it's just the TH-1 installer telling the iLok installer to start, or if it's a separately built installer with integrated drivers. On PC, it's usually just one installer starting the other so it would be up to the iLok installer to put in the uninstaller.

I don't currently have a Mac so I'm only guessing of course.

That was overlooked in the process of making the final release installers.
Just download the Interlok (not iLok!!!) drivers here:
http://interlok.com/download.html
Don't run the installer
There's an uninstall routine to run
Run it.

Be aware though, that is not the iLok installer. That's the installer for the TH1 protection scheme, if you uninstall it, you won't be able to run TH1 (or any other plugin using iLok or Interlok protection) in any way, not even in demo mode.

Next subrevision will have an option to separately not install Interlok drviers if you have them already installed.
If you don't install them, the plugin won't work though.

well simon, I've been playing your new toy all day long and I must say, it's a winner. You took all the necessary things and added a whole bunch of neat tricks (sizable gui? who does that???) and mousewheel control! superb for checking cabinets.

Ok, so some repeated info but I, as a picky guitar player (er, picky sound more than being an ace :hihi: ) feel the need to endorse a product that covers all the bases, is really very user friendly, and has a great price AND is light on the cpu no matter what you throw at it!

(so who wants my at2 :D )
