I took a little longer to buy it after downloading... because I didn't want to stop playing with it long enough to buy it.

Yeah vat is a bitch. Shareit always seems adds 19% which does make a difference when it comes to making a purchase...aMUSEd wrote:Damn - this is great. $89 is a great price - however in GBP it seems to be coming out at nearly £74 which is not so affordable.

I am just trying the demo version of Synplant. I had around 10 new patches after 39 minutes fiddling with it. This is really a very different approach to synth programming. It's very intuitive and the results are mostly awesome.
My interest is how the engine works. Is it a kind of additive synth where you add or remove different harmonics ?? Some sounds remind me about some Cameleon5000 patches, that's why i had that idea.

It sounds to me mostly FM .Ingonator wrote:I am just trying the demo version of Synplant. I had around 10 new patches after 39 minutes fiddling with it. This is really a very different approach to synth programming. It's very intuitive and the results are mostly awesome.

That's possible. Some of the parameters in the "Manipulate Genes" window look like FM.standalone wrote:It sounds to me mostly FM .Ingonator wrote:I am just trying the demo version of Synplant. UPDATE:
I had a closer look at the parameters. Looks more like a subtractive synth with two oscillators, sub-oscillators. filter, envelopes and LFO. The oscillators can do FM with each other, like most VA synths That's why some sounds are FM type.
In the manual at page 17 the voice architecture is shown. Guess i was right with the subtractive synth.

It still sounds great and combines perfecly with M-Tron pro , Omnisphere , ethnic music ... I guess everyone has tried different mixes . It would be interesting to know about them .

Sure it sounds great. I just tried to get an idea how it works. I discovered it's a subtractive synth with many parameters but this doesn't really explain how the controls work.standalone wrote:It still sounds great and combines perfecly with M-Tron pro , Omnisphere , ethnic music ... For the basic sound generation the knowledge about the synth engine is useless but for the "Gene manipulation" you will need it.

A welcome upgrade would be to make the "manipulate genes" less gimmicky GUI-wise, since it's an absolute BITCH to change the parameters with the double helix wobbling about so much
Have not tried going into the "controls" function of Logic to see if the parameters are available as standard sliders as they are on all other softies.

oh, I know about the DNA controls. on a positive side, It becomes second nature after 2 or 3 weeks.
that's the masochistic thing with this instrument. everything is completely understood and familiar just when the demo time expires
still, for what it does, $89 is a cheap road to salvation.

This synth is so easy to program that it's almost ridiculous, compared to other synths. I have already around 30 patches (after around 90 minutes of work) which sound awesome and with a totally different sound. And i haven't even used the "Genetic manipulation" so far.
I guess this is on my "have to buy" list, even if i didn't want to buy another synth soon. Until then i'll check the trial version further.

Therefore, they're "certified organic" patches...Ingonator wrote:The patches were made only with the main GUI, no "Genetic manipulation"."

Maybe "certified organic" will be an official certificate for synth patches in the future....

Is it possible to fall in love with a software synth? Cuz I think I have.
