I guess i could agree. Today i downloaded the trial version, programmed 35 patches and published them here. Just a few minutes ago i purchased the full version. As a registered user you also get additional 250 patches. Cool !!

For me this is already the most innovative synth of the year. :D :D :D

I made a preset that resembled a pot leaf. It sounds great and is very mellow, but where I live it's illegal to use it or sell it or even give it away.....:)

The fastest purchase I've ever made (with 25% uTonic user discount it was a no-brainer)! Great sound, intuitive and cool looking UI ( washing machine :)) In a way, some of the sounds coming from this thing remind me of my DSI MEK.

I increased my 35 published patches to 80 (all made today !!!). It's called "IW Synplant patches v1.3"
The link is here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/banks.php?s=lis ... order=date

description
"This is a bank of 80 patches for Sonic Charge Synplant. The files are in the original Synplant format.
The patches were made only with the main GUI, no "Genetic manipulation". The patches of "IW Synplant patches 1" are contained"

Update: A bank with synth string patches : http://www.kvraudio.com/banks.php?s=lis ... order=date

UPDATE (ABOUT PARAMETERS):

I did some research how the sliders in the main GUI affect the parameters in the "genetic manipulation":

1) volume, tuning, Vel. sensitivity, Effect, Release : no changes

2) Atonality : changes in a_freq, a_mod, b_freq, b_mod, fm_Amt, fm_mod

==> This means that the Atonality slider changes the pitch, the FM amount and LFO modulation of the pitch !!! If you use this you may have to retune the patch with the tuning slider.

3) branches : changes in all parameters except a_freq, a_mod, b_freq, b_mod, fx_size

==> This means that the branches have no effect on the pitch and the LFO modulation of the oscillators.

A branch with a higher note also results in a higher change of the parameters !!!

Thank you Ingonator! Great stuff!

Rather than reaching for the double helix try just clicking and dragging on the numbers to the left. Much easier to work with that way.

casiosk1 wrote:A welcome upgrade would be to make the "manipulate genes" less gimmicky GUI-wise, since it's an absolute BITCH to change the parameters with the double helix wobbling about so much :x

Have not tried going into the "controls" function of Logic to see if the parameters are available as standard sliders as they are on all other softies.
Available on iTunes, Amazon, etc.

Good one there. Also, it would be nice if it was possible to move up/down the values using the arrow keys. I do agree however, that the manipulate genes section could be a little less wobbly.

A small tip when creating presets is to first of all find a branch for your sound that has an interesting or good change/mutation. Retract the branch slightly and then clone it. Once that's done you adjust the modrange setting. This way you'll not only have a good basic sound but also an interesting change for all the branches.

If you have a good sound but don't like where any of the branches go, replant the sound with the branches retracted all the way. This will not change the basic sound of the plant but will give you twelve new variations in the branches that might or might not be what you're looking for. The undo-button also comes in handy for seeing where a branch leads and then going back to an earlier step.

I guess some of this info might already be in the manual, but hey.. maybe it'll help someone create presets that are more fun to use, who knows :)

Some of the things mentioned in the thread were mentioned in the manual, but maybe because of the really nice tutorial a lot of people haven't checked it out. Doesn't hurt to hear people's experiences and different ways of working with this new synth. Your tip was a good one, Majken. Thanks!

Indeed it does :). Thank you, mate! The tutorial and the manual is pretty outstanding, but still in my fiddlings up to now I forgot to try your first suggestion here, and most probably would have found out without reading this by the end of 2049 .

Well I've listened to their synplant radio for an hour or so, and I gotta say I really love the way this synth sounds and the way it actually works. Got alot of inspiration with this one, and believe me I will buy this badass synth tomorrow night once my cash arrives!
