I don't think I bought anything that just came out this year.
I bought dubstation, filterscape, surge, and reverence... None of which came out this year.
I have money set aside for uhbik though.

man... there has really been a bunch of stuff this year (at least, stuff that has made ME take notice
)
in no particular order, here are some that have made it to the top of my pointed little head (and yeah...some of'em really appeared toward the end of 07. sorry):
Disturbance
unstable
FabFilter Pro-C
SynPlant
Speakerphone (even though it was really from 07)
WatKat
Effectrix
Live 7 upgrade
CombOver (by runagate)
Vocal Keyboard (by short factor)
PIF vocoder (PiF Media Techs)
TAL-Vocoder (togu audio line)
(edit to note: in case anyone is still looking for decent FREE vocoders- the last three on this list should make you happy
)

Granted I don't spend hours on KVR a day like I used to but I don't remember a thread recently about plugins from 2008. For someone who's not been looking that heavily lately it's great to see what the best plugins of the last 11 months are as opposed to all those "what's your favorite plugin?" threads - which of course could cover plugins from the last 6+ years.grymmjack wrote:another list thread?

Well it gives 'em a chance to get it out of their system.grymmjack wrote:another list thread?

For me it would be FL8. Been getting more and more into it recently since i've been having problems with live. Still haven't totally gelled with it but it's clearly a powerful host with a lot of nice features under the hood. The built in midi tools are an excellent source of inspiration.

Great piece of kit, no doubt. But it's old as the hills, no?

Spectrasonics Omnisphere
(was going to list VirSyn Poseidon but that was mid-'07 .. where has the time gone?)
On The Horizon:
Melodyne DNA (appears to be pushed back to an early '09 launch now, but we'll see)
Camel Audio Alchemy (billed as a Fall '08 release, but we'll see - not worried either way because it's the Camel team - it'll kill as soon as it hits the streets)
All three are solid steps forward in music creation/sound manipulation technology. There are a ton of other goodies this year - here's hoping '09 is just as innovative.

We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

Alchemy looks like the most groundbreaking new synth of the year and Ben from Camel Audio just said it would be out by Christmas, so it gets my first vote.
Live 7 and the drum racks are worth mentioning. So is Gladiator.
