Octopus Feature Requests

Ok, so after some time with Octopus, I can't figure if what I'm about to ask is possible with the current version, so if it's not, I would like to add it as a feature request.

Is there a way to get the envelopes to act "globally" (maybe "mono" would be a better term?) as in the following example:

I play and hold a root note of C2, then add a C3, E3, and G3 in an arpeggio-type playing. Currently, the filter envelope will retrigger for every key press, so the modulation can get pretty crazy between those four notes and the timing with which I play them. What I would like to do is when I play and hold that C2, then play the other notes, the other notes start their envelopes (or sync to the C2's envelope) at the same point that the C2 is in, so it's a nice uniform modulation (filter sweep and tremelo-type volume mod specifically). When all keys are released the envelope would start over with the next key press.

Hopefully that made sense. :)

Sort of possible.

In free-run mode, the envelopes run continuously. So they don't trigger per note, but they don't trigger per legato group, either. If an envelope is set up to LOOP, this is pretty much what you want -- each new note is affected by the looped envelope already in progress. But if the envelope is not looping, then it's just going to run to its sustain point and stay there, and each new note is just affected by that constant value. So not quite what you want.

(Of course in Unison mode, envelopes trigger per legato group, but you can only play one note at a time. So that doesn't get you there, either.)

Thanks Paul, indeed free-run mode is what you need (as I read it from your posting)

Thanks Paul and Peter! I figured out what it was. I had the free-run engaged, but I also had the tempo-sync engaged as well, which seems to retrigger the envelope as you press additional keys. Turn it off, and all is well. So, I'll edit with tempo-sync on and then switch it off once I get the settings lined up in time.

I also thought of an easier way to describe the situation I was having: I want to use the Cutoff like a post-oscillator phaser effect. Hindsight and all that... You got my meaning though. :)

I think the only thing that bothers me about Octopus is that the text is too small for the FM and modulation matrixes. I feel like I need a magnifying glass just to tweak stuff!
