Was Olga released in 2008?
I think Live 7 as well as Audio Damage's "water" effects are obvious for software.
The drum rack and the warm sound of Fluid and Liquid really set new standards.
Other then that I would say Mixpack2 was my favorite buy.
EDIT: indeed Olga was released in february. Must be the GUI that makes it feel ancient

This year has ben a good year for software for me
I like the new Voxengo stuff with the rooting matrix, very impressive. Also recently bought Martin Eastwoods Duet and Sugar Bytes Effectrix
For instruments Helix looks awesome and is on my wish list for the new year
For hosts a lot of the smaller ones have really come on a long way, such as Podium, mutools and Repear. Also Usine is turning into something very special
Hopefully that is all my spending done now as I have pretty much everything covered now

Almost forgot about Schaack Audio Transient Shaper. Wow, who knew an such an innocuous little plug-in could be so essential?

I don't want to read all six pages, so if this is a re-run sorry.
Has PSP Audio Ware, Mix PAck 2- been mentioned yet? That fantastic v2, has totally brought mixpressor to a new level, making it one of the best soft comps around. I also think mix gate, is smooth like a smoothie, and I am a huge fan of Mix-Treble, which really didn't change all that much, cept it is a lot more cpu friendly, and has a software transient algo. Mix bass has also improved, and the saturator is one of the warmest around.

Forgot about Future Audio Workshop's excellent Circle. Gotta have a play with that one!
