thorau - I did see your coments, and, sorry, when I said has no-one tried it, what I meant was, where's the universal love? I mean this thing is outrageously good! Bloody hell, it's free too! Sometimes, just sometimes, something really great happens - again, thanks to all involved, you've made me very happy!

ditto, would be nice to know how things have been working out. Hell, the man's (S. Solida) got his own theme song, that Kriminal made for him around the time of the accident.Scotty wrote:Scot, I always pick up me ears when I see your name on a thread. I remember some time ago that you had had an accident and were going to have to curtail some of your musical endeavors as a result of the injury to your arm. How are you doing now? And best wishes.

YAY! I feel like Batman when I hear that. Only a lot older, fatter and clumsier...Kriminal wrote:Scot's Themetoine6 wrote:Looks like an interesting little vsti, I'll give it a spin later.

Looks to be cool. I got some cool sounds out of it, I didn't like the presets though, too simple.

not what i expected form a vcs3 clone. this is actually usable
could those of you who have experience with the original offer some patches?

Very Cool Synth! Probably the Best VCS3 emulation that I've ever heard or tried. It's more like a VCS3 on Steroids than a exact emulation though. It is to the VCS3 what Minimonsta is to the Minimoog. Shit it might even be better than a real hardware Ionic Performer if you know what I mean.

Wow thanks a lot for this! I'm a sucker for vintage sounds, crazy old electronic music, and thus emulations of these synths. This seems to fit my bill perfectly. Great synth!
Sorry if i'm stepping on sore toes here, but there's one little niggle, and that's the knob movement. Why can't i just move my mouse up and down to twist the knobs? Sometimes it goes all the way round like it's supposed to, but many times it goes all over the place, and it seems i have to move my pointer around the knob to twist it.
Damn, i'm making it sound like i'm talking about foreplay
Thanks again for this great free synth, definatly a keeper!

Damn! Cool stuff!
Two things this synth reminds me of: Portishead's bleak soundscapes and John Carpenter's movie soundtracks.

Hi,
Thanks all.
I do electronic music twenty years ago and I love the vintage sounds perhaps it's why I could do it.
I don't know if it is a good sim of the VCS3 because I never used the VCS3, I just worked with the docs and the VCS3 Scot's recordings.
I tested my sim with my earths, frequency analyzer, scope etc... and for all important connections I stabilized the feedback.
I fact, only the VCS3 users can say if it's close or not.
I believe than the difficulty to do a good VA is not a technical problem. SE and the C++ permit to do that.
The limits are : the dev experience with this kind of machine, your computer, your host, your audio interface.
Yes, the audio interface outputs voltage are clipped or limited... bye bye the analog sounding and some hardware are too clean, optimized for acoustic sounds but not really for electronic sounds.
The expensive prize of the vintages limit the possibility to work on VA, it's not easy to find a vintage because when you work, it's not only for few days but maybe for few months...
Fortunately the 70's synthesizers are some common features.
When I worked on this VA, I understood why the VCS3 is nice to create best noisy sounds and FX patches.
And I believe that the first quality of 70's synthesizers is the fun when you play just one key or when you create a sound, that's all...
If you respect this concept, you can do a good VA.

Now, people, take a look at xavier's other creations. They are very underrated, try them in a mix, and you'll see how cool his synthies are.
You can't always get what you waaaant...
