Noise when clicking on presets in SX2 in Rhino

Hi,
I have recently upgraded to SX 2.0 (I have the latest 2.01.10), and no every time I click on a preset in Rhino I get what I can only describe as a quick loud hum. This also happens when using the up and down select arrows from Cubase. I have tried old plug-in behaviour, but it still does it.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is it known?
Cheers.

I have a buzz noise whenever changing presets in Rhino (if the previous preset is still "active").
Got used to it now

sometimes also occurs on first time playthrough of a track -- sounds like the preset is getting loaded in real time. fine after that.

Buzz probably works better than humbasic channel wrote:I have a buzz noise whenever changing presets in Rhino (if the previous preset is still "active").

It's not a mjor problem and I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I thought I'd ask the question. I like to flick through the presets and play a bit over what I've already recorded to see how it sounds, and this buzz also cut's out whatever else is playing, so it throws me when I'm trying to get a 'flow' going

I think the noise is due to an unavoidable cpu spike when switching presets, as the synth needs to compute all these waveforms and curves and envelopes.

Is Rhino unique in this respect as it doesn't occur with other VSTi's ?
e.g. z3ta+, Reaktor 4

it does occur on some other synths. mhc vsti's (space synthesizer, etc.) do this louder and more often than rhino. if delay is part of a preset and it usually is, the mhc noise spike repeats in synced delay.
if it's a cpu spike as Big Tick says the system is loading up the resources and structures it needs to process sound, it's the cpu spike that makes the sound card stutter, it's not rhino itself producing this noise.
it's the same stutter you'd get from say switching effects as a song is playing and i can get that anytime. it's also much more likely if sound is still being sent to the sound card with long decays and releases. rhino has a lot of presets with long decays and releases (more so than a lot of other vsti's) combine that with complex, cpu intensive prep on a preset load and the sound card can stutter

Surely if it were a CPU spike, then the CPU monitor which I alwasy have open would shoot up, but it doesn't. It's also strange I never used to get this in SX1. I also have Speace Synthesiser and I don't get the problem with that. In fact I don't get it with any other VSTi's, this is the first time it has happened.
I suppose I'll learn to live with it.

You're using the latest version of Rhino, are you ? There used to be some, ahem, bugs in older versions that would cause these nasty noises - but not anymore.
I'd rather fix it than know you're strugging to live with it
