energyXT demo seems still causing trouble. Not all graphics (like the realtime timeline indicator) seem to be repainted when sticking inside the main window on the plugin panel.

enerxyXT demo seems to work as usual in a separate Cantabile VST window.

Thanks, it's on the list... there's some other plugins that don't paint properly either.

Hi.
Just checked out Moog Modular V and Prophet V.

Buttons seem to react but repaint needs any other click.

Moog Modular V is a bit special here, it is huge and needs portrait size to display it compületely... no chance unless I go for a portrait monitor roo...

Turns out that most of the redraw problems is related to a bug in VSTGUI - a UI library used by many plugins.

The correct fix is to get plugin developers to rebuild their plugins with the bug fixed, but there's alot of these plugins so I'm trying to figure out a workaround (though not sure this will be possible).

Well, you may be right technically, but why does the external VSTi window work then? It does in Cantabile 1.2 and it does in Cantabile 2...

The visible problem is that update seems not to work in the vsti panel in Cantabiles main window only. It looks like a freeze, maybe plugins need regular event ticks to get a chance to do their work?...

The problem is related to a bug in the VSTGUI specifically when the inplace editor is scrolled so the paint origin is not at 0,0. Most other hosts including 1.2 and 2.0's external editors don't scroll or otherwise clip editors to unusual locations.

If you're seeing repaint issues without scrolling or growing/shrinking that panel then it's probably another bug, in which case let me know. I've not looked at most reported redraw issues yet as I'm working on resolving the obvious case I have with one plugin - assuming (perhaps naively) that it will fix others.

I've tried this with energyXT demo again with the vsti panel large enough (getting no scrollbars there) before opening the plugin editor... same unresponsive redraw as before...

To me it looks like there is some internal "triggering" missing enabeling the plugin to start needed update actions... but that's just a suspicion...
